We pick up on our recap of this week's Featured Friday Playlist with songs number 8-11 (which somewhat falls outside of the normal scope of our Playlist- but that is the part of making the rules)...
8. "Letter to You" by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
We start this segment of music with a single from the forthcoming twentieth studio album by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The album was recorded live in the studio with no overdubs and features three tracks which were written prior to Springsteen's debut album Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
9. "Personality Crisis - Live Geneva" by Johnny Thunders
In conjunction with a newly released "Resurrected" version of Thunders third and final solo album comes this live version of the album culled from three different live recordings. Nashville fun fact: "Personality Crisis" is one of the very few cover songs I have ever heard Tim Carroll perform.
10. "Then Again" by Psychic Temple; The Dream Syndicate
Psychic Temple mastermind, Chris Schlarb teamed up with the recently resurrected Los Angeles band led by Steve Wynn to record the album Houses of the Holy. For reference - the previous four Psychic Temple albums were named I-IV. Those who know will understand.
11. "Bang Bang Boogie" by Bobby Royale
Based in Stockholm, Sweden - Bobby Royale - return with a single that is dripping with New Orleans with some modern flow on top. A great way to close out this segment of music.

"Circus Girl" by The Singing Butcher (from Top 40)
Timothy George kicks off this week's Music City Monday shuffle - with what was initially an advance single from his most recent album. He stands among the best songwriters working - in a town known for songwriting.
"Today" by Actuals (from Return to Elliston Square, 1979-1989)
Actuals later became Actuel and stood virtually alone in playing electronic based music in Nashville in the 1980s. I have probably said this before, but if you are interested in learning a broad cross-section of the independent rock and roll music being made in Nashville in the 1980s - this compilation is absolutely essential.
"Holler in the Swamp" by Steve Young (from Rock Salt ad Nails)
Although this debut album was recorded in Hollywood - with top musicians including Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, and James Burton, Young was an essential figure in the Outlaw country movement of the late 60s and early 70s, and an important part of the Nashville music community for many years. I have heard first hand accounts of him and Townes Van Zandt hanging out at Springwater. Young passed away in Nashville in 2016.
"Blue Bama Brindle" by Meghan Hayes (from Rock and Roll Over)
Another track from that wonderful compilation of great songwriters and even better people singing about their dogs or dogs in general. Meghan Hayes or "Meow" as I call her for reasons... sings here about her companion and housemate - George Foreman - known as Georgie. Georgie is a greyhound and the song movingly captures the spirit of this beautiful dog.
"What You Wanted" by Party of Shine (from Party of Shine)
Finally, we close out today's shuffle with the (relatively) new band formed by Jeff Johnson - best known for being an original member of the legendary Jason & the Scorchers. Party of Shine is a straight ahead hard rock band with not much county in it (if any).
