Our last post before Christmas. I hope no matter what or how you celebrate (or don't) that they coming days, weeks, months, and year are filled with better days, new opportunities, love, joy, and peace.

33. "Methadone Guy" by Hadnot Creek
First up, we have the opening track from Hard World by this Charlottesville based folk-rock band. Wonderful song.
34. "I Won't Change My Mind" by Remington Super 60
Next up, we have the return of this Norwegian band to the Playlist with their latest single.
35. "Drifter" by Jessye DeSilva
Next up, we have the new single from this Boston-based singer-songwriter. As the writer of a novel called The Drift - this song title caught my attention, but the song itself kept it. This is a wonderful song by a new-to-me artist that I look forward to finding out more about.
36. "Rule #13 - Waterfall" by Fish in a Birdcage
Fish in a Birdcage is Dustan Townsend a young musical virtuoso originally from Red Deer, Alberta and currently in the midst of a two-year long busking adventure through Europe (currently in Spain). The name of his third album is Waterfall and this is the lead and title track.
37. "Harmless" by Phriendly Phoes
Next up, we have the title track from the debut album by this psychedelic funk/hip-hop duo from Lewiston, New York. Really cool stuff.
38. "2 AM (Let's Do It)" by J'seann
Next up, we have a track from an up and coming rapper from Chicago. This was a direct artist submission that caught my attention. Check it out.
39. "Under the Skin" by Seven Red Lions
Next up, some indie rock from London. This latest single was inspired by the pre-Hispanic cultures of South America.
40. "I Like You" by Hook
We close out this segment of music with the latest single from the new wave/indie band from Dublin, Ireland. The band formed in 2019 and released their debut album in March of 2020. A nice way to close things out.
We are going to take a holiday break and regroup on Monday with the continuation of this extended Playlist as we head into the new year.
Featured Friday Playlist
"Grateful for Christmas" by Hayes Carll (from KMAG YOYO (& Other American Stories) 2011)
I just heard this song for the first time a couple of years ago, but it is one of my favorites now. So honest and sad and painful and beautiful.
"Kenny's (It's Always Christmas in This Bar)" by Rich Krueger (from Nowthen 2018)
An E2TG Artist of the Year from 2018 and songs like this are a big reason why. Although not exclusively a Christmas song (It is always Christmas in this bar...) it does fit the bill. Anyone who has frequented a dive bar recognizes some of the characters and the situations.
"River" by Joni Mitchell (from Blue 1971)
Another maybe not exclusive a Christmas song - (it is one of my favorites and perfect for this time of year).
"Back Door Santa" by Black Crowes (single 2005/2020)
It looks like Black Crowes reissued this song for 2020. The song was co-written and first performed by Clarence Carter back in 1968.
"If Santa Claus were President" by The New Bardots (single 2020)
One of the 2020 Christmas songs we got this year. This from the New Jersey rock band. It is a fun speculation that is particularly timely for this holiday season.
"I Believe in Father Christmas" by Greg Lake (from Works Volume 2 1975)
Another of my favorites - not your typical jolly holiday tune - which is maybe why I like it. Back in the MTV music video era - I didn't think it was Christmastime until I heard the opening strains of this song. I think it is important to note that if the December holiday season is more mournful and somber than holly jolly for you - you are not alone.
"Shopping Stoned at Christmas" by Trent Agecoutay (single 2020)
Another 2020 Christmas song. I tend to do most of my shopping on-line and due to my job I can't really get stoned, but this does seem like a good idea... maybe?
"This Mess We're In" by Sofia Talvik (single 2020)
We were introduced to the lovely music of Sofia Talvik in 2020. Apparently, the Swedish folk singer has a tradition of releasing a new Christmas song every year. This one is especially fitting for 2020. Although the title doesn't suggest Christmas song - the lyrics do make that clear.
"Sleigh Ride" by The Ventures (from The Ventures Christmas Album 1965)
We close with the classic surf rock Christmas album - the song was apparently composed in 1946 during a July heat wave.
