"Dancers at the End of Time" by Joshua Ben Joseph (from I Want the Old World Back - 2021?)
First up, we have a track from Manchester based singer-songwriter Joshua Ben Joseph. It looks like this song was previously released as early as 2014 but I found out about it last year. The lyrics sure seem relevant to the last couple of years.
"Metadrone" by The Scrags (from Anything - 2018)
Next, we go back to 2018 and this track from the Canadian band The Scrags.
"61 Highway Blues" by Watermelon Slim (from Church of the Blues - 2019)
We have featured some truly colorful characters in the nearly eleven years since E2TG started, but Watermelon Slim stands among the most colorful. A mensa-level genius from the Northeast whose background includes driving a truck and who has immersed himself in the world of the Delta Blues (including owning a restaurant and venue in Clarksdale. The music he makes is steeped in tradition and comes from an authentic place as all truly great blues music does.
"Eulogy" by Leon Gill (from Master of None - 2020)
Couldn't find a video for this one. From the debut solo album of singer-songwriter Leon Gill - who came up musically among the rich scene in Manchester UK.
"Mama Doesn't Own You" by Taws (single - 2015)
The debut single - which we got in early 2016 - from this four-piece Liverpool based band.
"The Fever" by Slump Test (from Slump Test - 2020)
I snagged this off an early bootleg from the Nashville punk band led by Benjamin Douglas and Ryan Dishen - of Swill TV fame.
"You're the Kind of Girl" by Forty Nineteens (from New Roaring Twenties - 2021)
From Big Stir Records - we have the 2021 album by California garage rock band Forty Nineteens. A surprisingly positive take on this current decade.
"Felicette (Space Cat)" by Spray (from Ambiguous Poems About Death - 2021)
The Spray really caught my ear at the end of 2021 and I featured them a couple of times of the radio show. This was the b-side of the Hammered in An Airport single - and included on the band's album Ambiguous Poems About Death. Truly great stuff and a great way to close out this shuffle.
