Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Stone Cold Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Okay, I'm off work today, and truth be told this was a shuffle that I started three weeks ago - right before I went out for a several days, but I never finished.  But it is a Music City Monday shuffle and it is Monday, so I thought I would go ahead and finish and post this today.

I'll probably be brief....

"High Time We Went" by Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies

We start thing off with a band that got it's start in the early 90s in Nashville. Playing a Southern boogie style. The took it's name from a Gary Larsen Far Side comic. This track is taken from a 2003 live album called Lamanamanumi.   Vocalist Mike Farris has gone on to a prolific solo career here in town and elsewhere.

"I'm Not Your Friend" (Live) by Bunnies

Another track from that Return to Elliston Square Live album. The Bunnies were among the first generation of punk bands in Nashville - led by vocalist Donna Frost - who is still around town.

"Everything" by Brigitte DeMeyer and Will Kimbrough

A powerhouse duo from their 2017 album Mockingbird Soul. Both artists have long and prestigious careers.  DeMayer moved to Nashville in 2010. Kimbrough has been here since the late 1980s when he and his band Will and the Bushmen relocated here.

"Stone Cold" (Live) by Walk the West

Another from Return to Elliston Square Live at Exit/In in 2008. Walk the West were one of the premiere bands of the Nashville 1980s music scene. They later formed the Cactus Brothers as a side project that eventually earned them their biggest success. Lead singer Paul Kirby passed away a few years ago.

"Roly Poly" (Live) by BR549
From the Live at the Houston Astrodome album, Nashville's own BR549. A band that played a huge part in revitalizing lower Broadway in Nashville.

"Yellow Cab" by Amelia White

East Nashville singer-songwriter going all the way back to her 2001 album that gave the name to her always amazing backing band.

"Penitentiary Guys" by Andrew Leheay and the Homestead

And, we close out this special edition Music City Monday shuffle (3 weeks in the making) with a track from their 2016 album Skyline in Central Time.   A great album and a great way to close out this shuffle.
