Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - You Can Call Me Bob Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Counting down!  We are less than a month away from the first night of the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency at The 5 Spot!  I am super-stoked to have Clark Paterson playing a full-band set to open the night.  Then, The Big Dumb and Rayvon Pettis are cooking up something special.  This will be a night you do not want to miss!   It's going to a jam-packed night of music so make plans to get there early so you don't miss a minute.  Doors should open sometime around 5:30-5:45pm and the music should get going around 6:15.

This amazing night is just night one of four - every Thursday in June.  Ted Drozdowski's Psychedelic Circus, The End Men, Brian Milligram, Microwave Mountain, The Coal Men, Eli Cook, Bee Taylor, Joanna Barbara and more are all on-tap for this residency.  I am hoping to have a few copies of my novel The Drift to sell.

It is Wild Wednesday - a virtual potpourri of musical selections....  Let's shuffle!

"Never Heard the Storm" by Jesse Terry

First out of the gate, we have Connecticut singer-songwriter Jesse Terry with a track from his 2015 EP The Calm and the Storm.  Terry played Bonaroo that year.  His latest album is called Natural and features an incredible line-up of guests: Dar Williams, Sarah Darling, Erin Rae, Kim Richey, Liz Longley, and more.

"The River Turned Red" by Selwyn Birchwood

A few years ago, World Cafe - released around 100 songs from their Live at World Cafe sessions -as a massive download, and I am still getting through those amazing performances. Here is one that was originally included on blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter Selwyn Birchwood's  2014 album Don't Call No Ambulance.  For the video playlist, I found a clip of this song from Music City Roots.

"We Will Fall Hard" by Jeremy Gluck/Robert Coyne

Next up, we have one from the E2TG archives - an album we featured pretty heavily a few years back: Memory Deluxe: I Knew Buffalo Bill 2 by Jeremy Gluck and Robert Coyne of the UK band The Barracudas.  The album is a follow-up/sequel to Gluck's classic album I Knew Buffalo Bill which we made with Nikki Sudden (Swell Maps) and Rowland Howard (The Birthday Party) which features guest spots by Nikki Sudden's brother and bandmate Epic Soundtracks and Jeffrey Lee Pierce (Gun Club).

"The Killer Inside Me" by Maynard and the Musties

Next, we have Nashville by way of New York band Maynard and the Musties with a menacing track from their 2013 EP - West.  In lieu of a video for this song, I dug up a Couch by Couchwest video from the same era.

"Violets Exposed to Radiation" by Broken Guru

Next, we have the title track from the latest album by New York band Broken Guru. E2TG has been following this alt-rock band for a few years now, and I think they are sounding better than ever.

"Batman" by Bob Schneider

Next up, we have the closing track from Austin songwriter Bob Schneider's album Live At The Paramount Theater which came out in 2009.  The song recounts the further adventures of the Caped Crusader - but you can call him Bob...

"Pick Up the Pieces" by Don't Believe in Ghosts

We close out this Wild Wednesday shuffle with a track from  the 2017 album by New York band Don't Believe in Ghosts.  The album is called Give it Meaning.  Don't Believe in Ghosts is the brainchild of Steven Nathan formerly of Man on Earth - a band we covered during the early days of the E2TG.
