Well, it is Friday, and you know what that means... or maybe you don't... but that means it is time for a brand new E2TG Featured Friday Playlist for you listening and music discovery enjoyment. I will repeat my usual disclaimer to please support the artists in what ever way you are able. If you have the means buy music and/or merch - if you aren't in the position to do that share far and wide.
I reluctantly started using Spotify for this playlist because it is the easiest way for me to do it. Just know that Spotify does not support artist - independent artists in particular. So listen, follow, download - whatever, but to really support the artists do more. *End of rant*
This week's just is a little shorter than last week, but it is still packed with great music from a wonderful combination of old friends and new discoveries. We featured the first nine songs down below the jump. We will feature the rest of the list starting Monday in this space..

"Wolf Moon" by Ryan Sobb and the Dead Mall (single)
New music from E2TG Band of the Year Ryan Sobb and the Dead Mall always makes my day. Wolf Moon is a tribute to me - they left the 3 and the -Mazeres off. Just kidding. Sobb and his band Preston Cochran and Chase Ballenger were red hot when this pandemic started, and although I miss seeing them tear it up live, it is nice to hear them here and to see some pre-Covid video footage which recently emerged.
"Already Dead" by Austin Lucas (single)
It is wonderful to hear some new music from Austin Lucas. I am reminded of the Henry Rollins quote: “This is not a time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time. This is what Joe Strummer trained you for.” Austin Lucas is, in my experience, a kind and thoughtful person who speaks his mind freely. All good qualities in my opinion. This folk punk anthem is the kind of music we need more of today.
"America Song" by Homeboy Loves You (single)
Speaking of artists with something to say - Preston Cochran makes a second appearance in this week's playlist - with the a-side (if that concept means anything for digital singles) of their new single. I played the other side on my radio show yesterday. I couldn't play this for language reasons, but personally, I think strong language is appropriate for the message here. The FCC just doesn't agree. Cochran and Scottie Prudhoe make up Homeboy Loves You - and I dig what they are doing.
"She's a Rainbow" by Molly Tuttle (from ...but i'd rather be with you)
Molly Tuttle releases this cover album recorded during quarantine. This incredible Rolling Stone's cover was released ahead of the album release and was accompanied by this moving music video - that features cameos by some familiar faces. Check it out HERE
"I Found the Sun" by Poncho Stevens (single)
Nashville singer-songwriter and all-around good guy Poncho Stevens released this new single last week - which I found out about too late for last week's list. It is great to hear new music from him, and this song is killer.
"Blue Fire" by The Blam Blams (from Opening Night)
We have been featuring the pre-album singles for several weeks - but Opening Night - the full-length debut album by this Nashville based Glam band is now out in the world. One of the flashiest, most original, and best bands around.
"A Lesson in Shapeshifting" by Ghost Town Remedy (single)
Ghost Town Remedy are back in the shuffle with their latest single. They eschew their familiar light-hearted tone for a more serious message here, but they still manage rock out. I know the message here comes from a person place, and all I can say is it turned out well. Try to remember no matter what you are going through - you are not alone.
"Just Out of Reach" by Dianne Davidson (from Perigon: Full Circle)
The legendary Dianne Davidson just released her first album of new, original material in over 30 years. The West Tennessee native released her first album at age 17 in 1971, and since then she has shared stages and studios with a veritable who's who of music legends. She describes this late career album as a "full circle" moment, but she goes on to say that she hopes that there are more concentric circles still to come. I think the listener will agree with that hope.
"Trains" by Will Kimbrough (single)
And our old friend Will Kimbrough returns with a new single - on his wedding anniversary - congrats Will and Jessica. I guess someone told him to play a train song. ;-). Kimbrough is one of the most well-rounded artists in Nashville today - a songwriter, a producer, a kick ass guitar player, who seems equally comfortable leading a band or backing other artists. This song was written by Sara Jean Kelley.
