Finally, thanks to everyone who came out to one, two, three, or all four shows.  It means a lot. In Nashville, we have the very mixed blessing of having many, many great music shows virtually every single night of the week. There are always "impossible" choices to be made, and it is also easy, even as a music super fan, to get burned out on going to shows. All that to say, it makes me appreciate those who did make it out even more.

Onward and upward, now that I'm not promoting the shows, I can remind you that my novel The Drift is still for sale.  You can get it on Amazon.com. I currently have 8 copies available for sale. I keep them in my car, so if you see me out and about and want one, just let me know.

Guess what!  Today will be the last day I bug you about the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency. That is because tonight is the finale!

I saw "bug you", and sometimes promoting events like this can feel like overkill. But with social media algorithms being what they are - it is almost a necessity to repeatedly post in every imaginable way. I know that personally, I will sometimes see a post about a show the day after the show occurs, and there have been times that I thought I was over-posting about an event - only to mention the event in person to someone who I know is on social media and who reacts to my generic posts regularly, only to have them say, "I didn't know you were having that event". 

So... TONIGHT! Get yourselves down to The 5 Spot. Our really big shew will begin promptly at six and end promptly at 8:30.  Shane Tutmarc, Joanna Barbera, Eli Cook, and Bee Taylor will be your entertainment for the night. I will provide light MC tasks. Hopefully, I will read a short section from my novel, The Drift, and I will have a few copies for sale.

As always there are a myriad of live music choices in Nashville, but we do hope you will make E2TG, The 5 Spot, and our great line-up a part of your evening.  Fun fact: Most late shows don't start until at least 9:00pm (even if they say 8:00pm), so come to our show, and we will have you on your way long before the downbeat of the next show.  (Or just stay at The 5 Spot for their always stellar late show.)

TOMORROW!  It's getting closer!  The Grand Finale of the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency will take over The 5 Spot beginning promptly at Six O'Clock.  Here is the line-up in order of appearance:

Shane Tutmarc will open with a short set of songs promptly at six. Tutmarc is now an East Nashville institution, but he got his start in the Pacific Northwest - leading the band Dolour. whose membership included Robin Pecknold later of Fleet Foxes and members of Portugal the Man and other bands.   Tutmarc moved to Nashville in 2010. He has opened for Wanda Jackson. Most recently, he has been performing under the moniker Solar Twin. 

Joanna Barbera: A native of New Jersey, Barbera's spirit has lead her all over the world before arriving in Nashville. Her music reflects her exploration of spiritual paths.  Her latest release Imago is a favorite of mine from last year. A song from that release, "When the Rain Comes" was prominently featured in the CBS series Criminal Minds. Her music is emotive with a great sound and wonderful songs, if you have not heard Joanna Barbera live, you want to make it The 5 Spot tomorrow, 

Eli Cook:  Eli Cook took up the guitar as a teenager in the Blue Ridge foothills of Virginia.  He cut is teeth playing and singing in churches and at revivals. His music takes a firm foundation of blues greats like John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Fred McDowell and others and updates it with influences from bands like Soundgarden, Clutch, and Rage Against the Machine.  His latest album is called High Dollar Gospel. It is another favorite of mine from 2017.  Cook has shared stages with the likes of B.B. King, Johnny Winters, Robert Cray, Gary Clark Jr, and most recently Robin Trower. He is in town from his home in Charlottesville, Virginia home, and you do not want to miss this rare opportunity to see him live in the intimate confines of The 5 Spot.


Bee Taylor: I was first recommended to Bee Taylor's music a couple of years ago.  When I went out to see her live, I wondered why he had taken me so long to catch on to her. Possessing a powerful voice and an intense spirit, Taylor's music has been described as a combination of Tom Waits and Amy Winehouse. Bee Taylor's incredible band features the immeasurable talented Cody Brooks  (Taylor is also a part of Brook's band).  Her set promises to be an all-out throw-down to help close out this awesome month of music.

All good things must come to an end, and this Thursday, we bid a fond adieu to the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency.  Eli Cook is heading to Nashville from Charlottesville, VA to lay down some of his signature blues-infused rock songs, Bee Taylor (who designed the cool posted above) brings her awesome band to rock your world, and Joanna Barbera is going to captivate you with her gorgeous songs.  All that, and I have a few copies of The Drift for sale.  As if all of that was not enough, get to The 5 Spot early - right at six long-time Nashville favorite and Seattle native Shane Tutmarc will join us for a short set to get things kicked off in style.  6pm sharp, $5 cover, 21+ (bring valid ID), and be prepared to party.

Happy Friday!  I huge THANK YOU! to everyone who came out to Week 3 of the E2TG Residency. Thanks to The 5 Spot and big thanks to Brian Milligram, Darrin Bradbury, and The Coal Men.

Brian, backed by Mike Lombardi, made his 5 Spot debut and nailed it.  He played some of my favorite songs of his - including "Better Man" and "Common Song for the Road".

Darrin was... well his was Darrin  which means he was brilliant and charmingly aloof and self-deprecating and wonderful.  He played some brand new songs and generally confirmed my long held belief that he is one of the best songwriters working.

The Coal Men reminded me, once again, that they are simply the best. In their nineteenth year of existence as a band, they are - as I said in my introduction - solid as a rock - with a great sound, wonderful songs.

Now, we turn our attention to the 4th and final week of the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency. We hope you will join us next Thursday, June 28 at 6pm. Performing will be Eli Cook, Bee Taylor, and Joanna Barbera.
