Thursday Morning Music Shuffle - Trouble in Mind Mix

It was already hot and humid when I left home this morning - a sure sign that it is Bonnaroo time in Middle Tennessee.  Today's Mix has nothing whatsoever to do with that music festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

As I was pulling out my driveway, the first song of the day came up on.  It's another great number from the new Nikki Sue and the Bad News album, Nothing Gold.  Location, Location, Location... "Location".

Anamanaguchi are from New York.  "Endless Fantasy" is the title track from their latest release, and it is nearly six minutes of instrumental goodness.

13ghosts are a Birmingham, Alabama Rock band.  Their song "Broken Objects" is from a 2011 album called Liar's Melody.  I like it.

The final track from the EP of Ukrainian folk music is a lively number called  "Ой Під Вишнею (Oj Pid Vyshneju)" performed by the quartet of Katarina Lkahovic, Mike Romaniak, Patrick Power, and Stephen Kreuger.  I'm not exactly sure why, but I've always been a sucker for traditional ethnic folk music, and this is very good ethnic folk music.

I've been posting a lot of Year of October.  They are a young Nashville band, that I recently become acquainted with and enamored of. They are playing a week from this Sunday night at the Basement (underneath Grimey's New and Pre-Loved Music).  "Where I've Been" comes from the first volume of the band's acoustic sessions.

Squire were part of the Mod revival of the late 1970s.  Today we have a song from a 2007 Squire Tribute album as performed by the San Diego band, The Shambles*. "It's a Mod Mod World" is extremely Mod and extremely cool.    *The Shambles is also a fictional band invented by my pal Rex Silo. I don't know how he'll feel to know there is a real band by that name, but we will soon find out.

The Great Mistake are a Buffalo, New York band. Here is their description from Facebook.

""you guys sound like if Morrissey fronted a post-rock band that was forced to play pop rock at gunpoint." Also, we don't growl!"  We will have more from The Great Escape coming up in the Shuffle for the day.

We have more of the smooth, new jazzy R'n'B from Atlanta - Joshua Worden with "Like a Rose"

POPCULT come from Denver and offer up some sweet alternative sounds from the Mile-High City. Today we have  "Life in the Wind" from their eponymously titled album.

Which takes us into our Daily Shuffle - First JUMP

Hotpipes are a very cool Indie band from here in Music City USA.   They released an album called Dust back in April and today we have "For Cowboy" from that album.  Check them out.

Buffalo New York's The Great Escape came to our attention via a Twitter Follow (I think). *checks Twitter* Yes, a Twitter Follow.  The song into today's Shuffle is from a 2008 album called In Orbit - Volume 1 and is called "The Other Side of the World".

We've been wearing out the self-titled album by Chicago's Great Divide over the past few weeks.  Some awesome horn arrangements build upon a comfortable soulful groove and joined with strong and unique vocals.  Dig it. Today we have "Holiday"

Frank Ryan is a young singer/songwriter from Toronto by way of Dublin, Ireland.  His music is soulful and rocking and just plain cool.  Check it.  Closing out the shuffle today is "Joelle" which is off Ryan's 2012 Dirty Little Liar EP (available on Bandcamp)
