Happy Friday! Sue and I had our first Radio DJ training at WXNA, and I got to see the studio of the first time. When I know more about an on-air date, I will definitely be posting about that here.
I am excited to announce that the line-up for the E2TG Anniversary Extravaganza has been set. Look for the big reveal Monday morning (it may leaked sooner - so now would be a good time to double-check that you have "Liked" the Facebook Page. It is going to be a good one, so go ahead and mark May 18 as "busy" on your calendar.
Tonight my plans include hanging out at The 5 Spot for the Tim Carroll Rock and Roll Happy Hour and then making my way to The Family Wash for the Mark Huff CD Release show with Jon Byrd opening up. Good times...
Tomorrow is Record Store Day. Make your plans accordingly....
Here are some of the songs we are featuring on E2TG....
"Detroit Blues" by Golden State Lone Star Blues Revue
Another track from this multi-state all-star blues band from their new CD which was released today! Good timing shuffle mode! I have been really enjoying this album. Recommended if you want to add some real blues music to your collection.
"Church of Rock 'N' Roll" by Gavin Chappell-Bates
Cambridge musician Gavin Chappell-Bates released We Are The Ones last week. Today, we have the opening track from that album - an aggressive and glorious celebration of rock and roll!
"Johnny Green" by Fendrick and Peck
Fendrick and Peck - a husband and wife folk duo - are back in the shuffle with another track from their album Lucky Penny. I love hearing un-hyphenated folk music like this.
"See Ya Around" by Lilly Hiatt
Royal Blue - the second album by Lilly Hiatt was released a little over a year ago. She has more recently released a four song EP via Noisetrade - Royal Blue b-sides. This is our first listen from that release. Lilly Hiatt is part of the wonderful east-centric Nashville music community that I get to hang around sometimes.
"Don't Let Go" by Tomas Doncker
Another track from The Mess We Made by New York artist - Tomas Doncker. The powerfully topical album strikes me as a What's Going On for these complex and trouble times in which we find ourselves. The world is a mess and it is a mess we have all contributed to... what now?
"Noise Gate" by Mind the Journey
Spencer Sabo is from Connecticut. The album is called Color in the Gray Machine. It is wonderfully inventive and original music. I dig it.
"Bellezza" by Le Folli Arie
More music - this time sung in Italian - from this Prog-Pop band from Milano.
"Jingle" by The Jolly Light Brigade
A 50 second instrumental from the CAK EP by this Dord Music Group band.
FADES are a hard-rocking alternative band from London. The EP is also called FADES.
