Here it is! Announcing the #E2TG 5th Anniversary Extravaganza Wednesday May 18 9pm at The 5 Spot. I am super stoked about this line-up! Julie Christensen with Sergio Webb and Chris Tench (of STONE CUPID), ADRIAN + MEREDITH, BARK (Tim and Susan Bauer Lee of Tim Lee 3), PATRICK KINSLEY & a Fistful of Dollars, and special guest THE FORESTERS! I hope many of you can join us that night. The anniversary show will be right after the 3rd installment of the R.B. Morris May Residency (which you do not want to miss).
Okay - a quick recap of some recent show... Friday: had a fun night at The 5 Spot for Tim Carroll Rock 'n' Roll Happy Hour and then moved to the Family Wash for the always amazing Jon Byrd opening for Mark Huff (for Huff's CD Release Show). Mark Huff sounded spectacular.
Yesterday, I got to help Lee (of "Earie" award winning Eight O'Five Jive celebrate her birthday, got to hang out with my friend, Too Much Country listening to the fine, fine music of Miss Shevaughn and Yuma Wray, and then headed over to The Basement East for the Merle Haggard tribute. This tribute featured some awesome performances (including E2TG favorites like Jon Latham and Jesse and Noah. Pretty much everyone of the bill killed it.
Let's jump to Music City Monday shuffle...
"Pennies and Youth" by Brooke Waggoner
The first of two tracks from the Nisolo Soundtrack to Summer - a recently released compilation of Nashville artists.
"Swordfish" by Darrin Bradbury
Listening to some mixes from the forthcoming Darrin Bradbury album. I am so excited about this album. Over the last year and a half or so, Darrin has taken Nashville by storm. Now, it is time for the rest of the world to catch up. "Swordfish" is a Darrin Bradbury track that has been around for some time - this new version - which I hope everyone can hear soon.
"Inside" by HalfNoise
Another track from that Nisolo compilation. This is by the alternative pop rock band HalfNoise which is the project of Zac Farro. Dig it.
"I'm Just A Shadow" (Bonus Track) by SHEL
A bonus track from the recent Noisetrade sampler put out by Colorado/Nashville sisters band SHEL. This song was featured in the series, The Fosters, which airs on Freeform (which used to be ABC Family network).
"That's How Every Empire Falls" by Marianne Faithfull
So, bear with me. Marianne Faithful is legendary singer originally from the UK. This song was written by R.B. Morris who is from Knoxville, TN. I included this in the Music City Monday shuffle - to reflect R.B. Morris' importance in the early 90s resurgence of Lower Broadway. Reminder: Morris will be hosting a residency at The 5 Spot every Wednesday night in May with many great special guests. On May 18th, plan on hanging out after R.B. Morris for the E2TG 5th Anniversary Extravaganza.
"A Place I'm Trying to Get To" by Lori Kelley
From Lori Kelley's latest album More. This is a song Kelley co-wrote with Jeffrey Steele and Alison Block. Steele (I think) provides the lead vocals on this track. Like the rest of this album this track - is super catchy. A favorite of mind.
"Junkie Love" by Darrin Bradbury
Another sneak peek into the musical mind of Darrin Bradbury. This one has been a staple of his live act over the last several months. Look for Darrin Bradbury touring out West with Tim Easton. He will also be appearing on Music City Roots in June.
"Gettin' By, High and Strange" by Kris Kristofferson
Some classic music from one of the Nashville Outlaws. Off of his 1972 album, Border Lord.
"Heavy" by Carl Anderson
We close out the shuffle with one of my favorite tracks from Carl Anderson's Risk of Loss album. Heavy stuff!
