As a person born in the South, I am encouraged by the vote (so far) in Georgia. My home state has a long way to go, but if the party leadership can step up, and if the young voters and soon-to-be voters can be engaged and energized - I see change ahead - maybe not the next election or even the one after that, but eventually. For my progressive friends in Tennessee who are contemplating moves because of the lackluster performance in this election, I selfishly (as someone with deep roots) ask you to stick around. We need you. In any case, I am glad to be living in a tiny blue bubble in a sea of red. To the progressives outside of this bubble - I see you and I admire your courage. Stay strong!

Once again, we have reached the end of the week - and what a week? Am I right?
It was originally looking like this was going to be a light playlist, but it turns out to be 31 songs and almost 2 hours long. New and recent music from all over the world - as usual starting in my own backyard - Nashville. If you aren't already, please follow the playlist on Spotify and give it a listen. "A Pleasant Surprise" by Carrus & Kurtz
The fifth volume of The Genius Of... series of instrumental electric bass guitar and pedal steel guitar is out today! Undercutting the clever song titles and the humorous nature of Adam Curtz and Cameron Carrus - lies some wonderful, mostly ambient music for chilling, falling asleep, or other similar endeavors.
"South Dakota" by This Frontier Needs Heroes
I am so excited about the new This Frontier Needs Heroes album - due early next year. I can't wait for everyone to hear it. In the meantime, the next single from the album was released last week, and it is a stunner. A great song - lyrically and musically.
"Crazy for Christmas" by Tom Mason
I would normally not be one to post a Christmas song in early November, but for the amazing Tom Mason - I will make an exception. Mason - normally seen leading his pirate band - The Blue Buccaneers - released his new "solo" album, Under a Mistletoe Sky - which showcases why he isn't just the best pirate in Nashville, but one of the best songwriters. This one was co-written by Mason and Nate Duncan.
"Carry the Torch" by The Smoking Flowers
The Smoking Flowers show up in the Playlist for a second week in a row with their new single. The song carries a powerful message for today (for anytime) - it is about recognizing, owning, and using your power to bring light into the world.
"Rehearsing the Heartbreak" by Joe Goodkin
Next up, the great new single from long-time E2TG favorite - Chicago-based singer-songwriter Joe Goodkin. Really love this song.
"Unrequited Love" by Gina Sicilia
This is the 72nd song released by the powerhouse Nashville-based singer-songwriter Gina Sicilia. It was produced by Cody Dickinson of North Mississippi All-Stars. The song really showcases Sicilia's vocal chops. Man oh man.
"Eowyn's Song" by Lori Kelley
I have been a fan of singer-songwriter Lori Kelley for a long time now. Many songs - some of which have been cut by other artists - offer humorous or heartfelt glimpses at every day life. For her latest single, she sings a song from the point-of-view of the heroic figure from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
"60 Degrees & Sunny" by Love Tractor
Love Tractor formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980, and they were at the forefront of what would become an influential music community - one whose impact is still being felt today. This is from the new reissue of Love Tractor's first album (with bonus material) - via Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records.
"Stop It" by Pylon
Coincidentally also released today (although not coincidentally placed alongside the Love Tractor album), we have one of my favorite Pylon songs from the newly released Pylon Box compilation. Like Love Tractor, Pylon were a vital part of that incredibly rich Athens, Georgia music scene. The band broke up in the early 80s - but later reformed a couple of times. The death of founding guitarist Randall Bewley ended the band's run. Vocalist Vanessa Briscoe Hay formed Pylon Reenactment Society to carry on the spirit of the band - we have featured that band in the last few years.
"Nature is Nurture" by Creature Comfort
And, we close this segment of music with a track from the new album Home Team by red hot Nashville band Creature Comfort. The band features Taylor Cole of Tayls - who has become a regular here at E2TG this year.
