Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Almost Summer Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook

Okay, after a couple of days of long lists and short words, things go back to normal today.

Today is Thursday, and we have a shuffle taken from the "New Music" playlist which started the day at over 470 tracks.

"Mistakes and Scars" by Ben Arthur

We kick things off with another track from Ben Arthur's fantastic American Castles album. The album is all songs inspired by the words of others. Mostly poems and essays. I confess to not knowing the inspiration for this song, but I like it a bunch.

"Wild Horses" by Amilia K. Spicer

Not the Rolling Stones song, but an excellent original from Wow and Flutter. Amilia K. Spicer is from Los Angeles, and she has lots of friends and supporters here in Nashville.

"Detox" by Kristin Hersh

Moving through Wyatt at the Coyote Palace from Kristin Hersh.  This is actually a 2016 album, but it was issued on double vinyl last year which is when I started featuring the album.

"Sunnyside" by Jake La Botz

The title track and our final track to feature from Nashville by way of Chicago singer-songwriter and actor Jake La Botz.  I have been fortunate enough to catch him solo live a couple of times, and he is fantastic.

"The Ghost of Robert Johnson" by Andrew Reed

Our second listen to If All the World Were Right by Nashville by way of North Carolina singer-songwriter Andrew Reed.  This was a recent submission, and I am really digging this album.

"Wash Ya  Hair" by AJ Ghent (J-Ent)

Another track from The Neo Blues Project.  AJ Ghent is a singer-songwriter, slide/pedal steel guitar player - who infuses soul, funk, indie rock and more - into a innovation and highly original package.  Among his many credits and accomplishments, Ghent was voted the Atlanta Braves Band of the Year in 2015.

"Summertime" by Sounding Arrow

A much needed reminder that despite the rather chilly morning, Summer is indeed coming.  Sounding Arrow is the relatively new recording project of Scott Kinnebrew of Truth and Salvage Co.  The album is called Love in Breathing.

"Rosemary" (Laurie Ditchburn cover) by Pat Power

And we close things out on this Thursday with another track from Pat Power's tribute to Ontario songwriters - called Ontario Gothic Vol. 1.  Pat Power is the immensely talented musician who is part of 2016 E2TG Band of the Year - Valued Customer. This is an amazing song- and it is an amazing album - even if you aren't familiar with songwriters from Ontario - which I think is at least part of the point.
