Here at E2TG - every Monday is Music City Monday - where we shuffle up songs from an expansive and ever-growing playlist of music by Nashville artists past and present. My rules for what constitutes a Nashville artist are flexible and malleable. Basically, it is generally music by artists who do or have lived in Nashville. In some cases, that extends to music made before or after the artist lived in Nashville. My philosophy is that every musician/songwriter who comes to town (no matter how long they stay) brings a little something to the fabric of Nashville's music community and they also take a little of Nashville with them.
Also (hopefully) rarely, something will pop up from someone I thought was from Nashville but who never actually lived here... Oops.
The Smoking Flowers/Collins Family Halloween bash at The 5 Spot has become my favorite way to celebrate the holiday. This year Kim and Scott Collins were backed by the fabulous DeeOhGee and joined by guests like Lauren and Jason Morrow and Justin Collins and more. There were fireeaters and dancers, Also costumes galore. I even won a prize although for the sake of full disclosure, I was the only entry in my category, but still - a win is a win.
Lots of great music from Raygun, Gyasi, The Minks (in coordinate Wizard of Oz costumes), and Lauren and Jason Morrow - doing murder ballads under the name The Bone Morrows.
Reminder - we unleashed a new Featured Friday Playlist last Friday, please check it out.
