All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

Okay.... it's been one of those weeks... brutal is not a strong enough word for it. But it is mid-week and all will be well soon enough - I suppose.
Time for "Wild Wednesday" on E2TG. We a good cross-section of music - including some from the "New Music" playlist and some classic tunes... let's jump!
"Frog Went a Courtin'" by Flat Duo Jets
We start off with a take on the an English folk song that dates back at least to the 1500s. This version is by the Chapel Hill, NC and Athens, GA band led by Dex Romweber. This live recording comes from the 2008 soundtrack to a documentary film about the band called Two Headed Cow. Flat Duo Jets were a highly influential band (Jack White cites them as a major influence on The White Stripes). You may recall Romweber's name coming up in reference to George Trouble - who we have been featuring. Romweber appears on both the George Trouble album and The Zealots ablbum we are featuring, and George Trouble has recently been on the road with Romweber. This song has been hanging out in my phone memory for a while now.
"Yancey Cole" by Tim Henderson
We continue to explore the Legacy Collection - box set of the late Texas and West Virginia songwriter Tim Henderson. This is a track from volume 4 of that collection which is subtitled West Virginia In My Dreams.
"For the Sea" by Paul Maged
Next up, we have a track from The Glass River by New York songwriter Paul Maged. The album came out back in March. Paged eschews the usual singer-songwriter trapping in favor of a sound that encompasses punk, grunge, alt-rock and more.
"So Far Today (Reprise)" by Shadow 15
Next, we have a stripped down reprise to one of my favorite tracks by Nashville rock legends Shadow 15. This is another from their 2009 compilation called Far Away.
"What's Good" by Lou Reed
"What's Good" was eventually included on Reed's 1992 sixteenth solo album Magic and Loss - with the subtitle - "The Thesis", but it first appeared on the soundtrack to the Wim Wenders' film, Until the End of the World.
"Falling Out of Love" by Pinmonkey
First of all, it's good to know that my shuffle function has as weird a sense of humor as I do.... I'll explain. Drummer Rick Schell of Pinmonkey is a friend of Pat Kinsley who we have featured on E2TG. We both attended a show by Pat and his band A Fistful of Dollars. Pat was wearing a Lou Reed t-shirt, and a remark was made that it looked like he was wearing a Rick Schell t-shirt - the likeness was striking. So, it seems appropriate that a Pinmonkey song would follow a Lou Reed song. Anyway, this is a song that was written by Dolly Parton and if you check out video you can hear her backing the band on her song.
"Ballad of the Troubadour Kings" by James House and the Blues Cowboys
The James House and the Blues Cowboys album is due out a week from this coming Friday - August 3. The Troubadour Kings was the name of duo House formed with James Brannen. House had a top ten country hit back in the '90s with "This is Me Missing You". Among his songs released by others - was "Ain't That Lonely Yet" which Dwight Yoakam included on his 1993 album, This Time. We have a video of House doing "Ain't That Lonely Yet" in the video playlist below.
"Flip It Over" by Logan X
Next, we have an unreleased song by Brooklyn band, Logan X. We can't play you that song, but we have a live video of primary Logan X member Sam Braverman.
"Claire's Theme" by Graeme Revell
We return to the Until the End of the World soundtrack with part of the score to the film by New Zealand composer Graeme Revell. Claire in the film was portrayed by actress Solveig Dommartin who also co-write the story for the film with director Wenders.
"Caffeinated Lover" by Cup
Finally, we get hopped on this track from the album Jitter Visions by Brooklyn band, Cup. A nice shot of energy for my crazy morning of work.
