All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed three - January - March 2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

E2TG January 2018
E2TG February 2018
E2TG March 2018

I don't always go to Madison Guild Monday at Dee's, but when I do, I always have great hangs with friends, meet new people, and hear great songwriters (both familiar and unfamiliar).  Last night was no exception, and in fact it was exceptionally fun. Got to hear Shawn Conerton, Frankie Zwick, Weston Harris Hill, Sean Quinn, and another wonderful songwriter that I am not allowed to mention.

I got three new CDs in the mail yesterday, and that pushed me to finally add some new music to the "New Music Playlist".  Of course, none of those new songs came up in today's shuffle, but soon!

In any event, we have some cool music to feature today - so let's go!

"Jing Xi" by Jing Chi

We start off with a seven minute blues fusion instrumental from that awesome super-group I am so excited to be presenting.  Jing Chi's album is called Supremo. Jing Chi is Robben Ford (who I understand was recently in Nashville - I think?), Jimmy Haslip, and Vinnie Colaiuta.  Together these musicians have played with Sting, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, Yellow Jackets, Tommy Bolin. The album also features saxophone great Jeff Coffin (Bela Fleck, Snarky Puppy, and Dave Matthews) and trumpet player Mike Haynes (Coheed and Cambria, Cage the Elephant, and even Brad Paisley).  A great relaxing piece of music for a very stressful early part of my commute.

"Old Clouds Fell" by Claudio Conti

Next up, we have another track from Garnet Dust by singer-songwriter Claudio Conti. You can expect to hear this song on this coming Saturday's Double Shot show (theme: Young and Old)

"Hurricane (Remix)" by Elouise and Cesar Davila-Irizarry

Next up, a track you might have heard on a recent Double Shot. This is from the mind-blowing Transmigration collaboration between E2TG faves Elouise (California blackgrass band) and Cesar Davila-Irizarry (composer - American Horror Story).  Davila-Irizarry takes on tracks from Elouise's debut album Deep Water.  These already other-worldly songs are transmigrated to whole other dimension.

"The Devil With Me" by Speedbuggy USA

Sticking in California, we have another track from Kick Out the Twang by cowpunk band Speedbuggy USA. Speedbuggy USA are currently touring in England and recently played a festival with E2TG faves - Amelia White and The Rosellys.

"Worship the Lightbulb" + "The 5-Year Binge" by Ezra Bell

Next up, two in a row from the self-titled album by Ezra Bell. Ezra Bell is a band from Portland, Oregon.  No one named Ezra Bell is in the band.  The principal songwriter is Benjamin Wuamett. And what a songwriter. I have featured a couple of songs before from this album, but the lyrics to "Worship the Lightbulb" really struck me this morning.  I bit off-center and perhaps a bit irreverent. Those are both good qualities as far as I am concerned. Check out this album!

"High Desert" by Marie/Lepanto

Next up, we have our penultimate song to feature from Tenkiller - the debut album by Marie/Lepanto which is a collaboration between Will Johnson (Centro-Matic, South San Gabriel) and Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster (Water Liars).

"The Future Age" by rOZZ

Next up, we have another track from Crunching for the C by rOZZ (from Belgium).   rOZZ is a professional astronomer who has been called the female Leonard Cohen. The lyrics here reflect the songwriter's varied interests which include being a forum moderator for SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence).

"Through the Maelstrom" by Ronan Furlong

And we close things out with another penultimate track for us - this from Red Sun Rising by Irish singer-songwriter Ronan Furlong. I love the word Maelstrom, and I love this song.
