Another week, another Featured Friday Playlist. This week's list is slightly longer than last, and equally as full of great new and recent music.
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "Blockbuster Blues" by Griffin Winton
Nashville singer-songwriter returns with his second single of 2021. The song is about movies and entertainment, and it is a great song.
2. "Hey, Sugar" by Ben Arthur
Ben Arthur returns with his first single of 2021. Always good to hear new music from Ben.
3. "Dirty Fingers" by Lindsay Ellyn
We are now just two weeks away from the release of Queen of Nothing - the full-length debut of Lindsay Ellyn, and today we have the third single. Man, it is great hearing new music from Lindsay Ellyn.
4. "Lucky Break" by Side Pony
Side Pony is the break new project of Alice Wallace and Caitlin Cannon. Wallace moved to Nashville shortly before the pandemic hit and shut everything down. Wallace and Cannon wrote songs together during the lockdown. This is the first single. They are currently crowdfunding their debut album. You can check that out here: LINK
5. "Burn it Down" by Gyasi
Next up, an exciting new single from Nashville glam artist Gyasi.
6. "Down the Trail" by Amy Speace with The Orphan Brigade
I have been excited about this collaboration between long-time East Nashville singer-songwriter Amy Speace and the all-star The Orphan Brigade (who previously recorded abums in a haunted house and in an Italian cave). There Used to Be Horses Here is out now!
7. "Die to Know" by Christopher Paul Stelling
We were turned onto Christopher Paul Stelling a good while back when a couple of his albums were recorded by early E2TG favorite Chris Peck.
8. "Dear Jennie" by Layla Frankel
The new EP Postcards from the Moon is out tomorrow. I played this song on Ear to the Ground radio this week. A great tune from this Nashville singer-songwriter.
9. "Hand Me Downs" by Janelle Arthur (feat. Dolly Parton)
Thanks to Helene Cronin for the heads up on this great new song featuring the one and only Dolly Parton.
10. "Big Wow" by ERNEST MOON
We head to the UK for this new single. I remembered how much I loved ERNEST MOON's music and this new single is no exception. Wonderful music.
11. "When Spring Came" by moshimoshi
We previously featured the debut single from this Finnish band. Now, their debut EP moshimoshi i is out. I like this band a lot.
12. "Apathy" by Hadda Be
And we close with a track from the fantastic new album from UK brit-pop/post-punk hybrid band Hadda Be. Named after an Allen Ginsberg poem.
