Time for another Featured Friday Playlist. This is a fairly large list - thanks to taking a week off... But, we have a ton of great music spread throughout the whole playlist - so please check out the full list on Spotify (below) and give us a follow if you are so inclined.
It is also Bandcamp Friday - so be sure to support your favorite independent artists by buying music and merch from them - Bandcamp is waiving all revenue sharing - so your money goes directly to the artists you love.
We have a bunch of music to get to and time is short - so let's dive right in...
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "Peggy" by Mr. MPH
The new band featuring Ryan Sobb and Preston Cochran of E2TG Band of the Year - Ryan Sobb and The Dead Mall - released their first music in the form a brief, catchy bit of power pop. Check it out.
2. "Sharp" by Livingmore
Spencer Livingston, who co-leads this California band with his partner Alex Moore, has been a part of the E2TG community since the very beginning. His old band The Alternates was the E2TG Band of the Week in Week 6 of our existence. Livingmore started in 2014 and this is their latest single.
3. "Mistakes Were Made - 2021 Remix" by Bill Lloyd
Bill Lloyd has been making great power pop (and other great music) for years and he just released an incredible compilation of some of that great music: A Selection of Power Pop 1985-2020. This song was originally released on his 2012 album Boy King of Tokyo.
4. "Televangelist" by Dolour
The new Dolour album is here, and today we have the title track from the mind of Shane Turmarc - who has been a steady part of E2TG in recent weeks.
5. "Desire" by Nathan Kalish
Excited to feature the new single of Nashville's own Nathan Kalish. Kalish had one of my favorite 2020 releases in Songs for Nobody.
6. "Shade" by The Danbury Lie
Long-time E2TG favorite The Danbury Lie returns with a new two-sided single released yesterday.
7. "Better" by Tayls
More new music from one of my favorite current Nashville bands- Tayls - led by Taylor Cole.
8. "Foregone Conclusion"by Zach Schmidt
A second single from the hotly anticipated new album by Zach Schmidt. His new album Raise A Banner is out in two weeks. For this track, he cobbled together a band featuring Jimbo Hart, Chad Gamble, Derry Deborja, Sadler Vaden, and Jason Isbell - all of whom I believe have played together before...
9. "Already Dead - Acoustic" by Austin Lucas
Next up, we have an acoustic version of the lead track from Lucas's latest album Alive in the Hot Zone. One of my favorite songwriters and people.
10. "Helplessly Hoping" by The Danberrys
More new music from East Nashville favorites Ben Deberry and Dorthy Daniel - known collectively as The Danberrys.
11. "A Year Gone to the Dogs" by Terry Klein
Next up, we have a timely new single from Austin, Texas singer-songwriter Terry Klein. A response to the year that still haunts us all.
12. "Searchlight" by Jack Silverman
During our week off, Nashville guitar guru Jack Silverman released his new album Now What and we have another track from that fine collection of music in our Playlist this week.
13. "Idas Sommarvisa" by Georg Nielsen
Georg Nielsen is the moniker of E2TG favorite Jon Magnusson. This is a summery interpretation of a popular Swedish kids song. A lovely track.
14. "How Fast Do You Like to Drive" by Will Chant
Next up, we have a lovely recent single from a singer-songwriter from L.A. singer-songwriter Will Chant. This really caught my ear.
15. "Song of Co-Aklan" by Cathal Coughlan
We previously featured a single from this Irish indie legend (The Fatima Mission; Microdisney), and now we have the lead and title track from his album which came out last week.
16. "Igotlostinsidemyhead" by moshimoshi
We close with an energetic debut single from this band based in Helsinki, Finland. A great way to close out this long segment of music.
