It is Friday and time for another E2TG Featured Friday Playlist. As usual, it will take us through next week to recap the playlist for you... We kick off with the first 10 songs below the jump. You can check out the Playlist on Spotify - where you can follow the Playlist if so inclined.
My usual disclaimer: Supporting artists means paying for music to the extent you are able: sites like Bandcamp provide many opportunities to support the artists you love. Spotify is a great way to share and discover music, but they do not adequately support artists.
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "Deanna, Deanna" by Darrin Bradbury
Yes, we featured Darrin's new song the day it came out, but it also needed to be added to this week's playlist. With this post, he increases his lead as the most tagged artist in E2TG history. This song grows on me more every time I hear it (and I loved it from the first listen).
2. "My Price" by Jessica Boudreaux
Next up, we have the debut solo singer from Portland, Oregon signer-songwriter and Summer Cannibals frontperson Jessica Boudreaux (who happens to be my first cousin once removed). She has spent most of the pandemic in a battle with cancer - this is referenced in the lovely and powerful song.
3. "Safe and Sound" by Ben Reel
Next up, we have the single version of a track from this Irish singer-songwriter's 2020 album Nashville Calling. The album was produced by and features Will Kimbrough. This track also features Garry W. Tallent (E Street Band), and Ewan Hutchings.
4. "Divisions" by The Danbury Lie
The flip side to recent single ("Shade") which we featured last week from E2TG favorite The Danbury Lie. The Danbury Lie is the fifth most tagged single artist/band in E2TG history.
5. "Hard to Forget" by Lindsay Ellyn
The 2nd single from the Queen of Nothing album which is due out in just over a month. It is the debut full-length album from this Nashville based singer-songwriter.
6. "Slippery Slope" by Tim Carroll
With new music this week from Darrin Bradbury, Lindsay Ellyn, and Tim Carroll - I feel like I am back at Fran's Eastside in 2014.* This is the title track from the increasingly prolific East Nashville singer-songwriter and guitarist. *I missed until too late that Drew Kohl (Cold Equations) released a new single today as well (we will have it in next week's Playlist) but that just adds to my feelings of nostalgia. Side note: with this post, Tim Carroll moves into sole possession of the #2 spot of E2TG's most tagged artist of all time.
7. "World Gone By" by Leon Majcen
A tribute to the late John Prine - released on the anniversary of his death by this Florida based singer-songwriter.
8. "Great Lakes State Line" by DL Rossi
Another single from Lonesome Kind (due out next week) from this Nashville based singer-songwriter. Rossi just came onto my radar with the the singles from this album, but I am already a fan.
9. "Half" by John PayCheck
Next up, we have a recent single from a country singer-songwriter, combat veteran, father and husband with a familiar name. PayCheck is the son of legendary country singer and songwriter Johnny Paycheck. Although almost certainly influenced by his father's music - the younger PayCheck's music is all his own and I like it a lot..
10. "The Waves" by Gabba Delic
We wrap up this initial segment of music from a Nashville artist who I recently discovered through an Instagram post or story from a friend. Her debut album is due out next week and is named Pack My Bags.
