Can you believe it is Friday?! Actually, I kind of can... but anyway, it is time for another Featured Friday Playlist. This week's list is a little smaller (we'll see how it goes but I am thinking about trying to avoid the extra long playlist for the foreseeable future). But, a lot of that depends on the how much great new music is being released. And I sure don't want that to slow down.
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "Under My Skin" by Zografi Music
Nashville songwriter Paul Zografi has been an E2TG favorite for several years now. I may be mixed up on the order of things, but I think I first met him at the old Bobby's Idle on one of the Sunday night shows I used to attend. Maybe that is when he met Kiely Connell and Drew Kohl, too? In any case, in recent years, Zografi has been teaming with those talented folks (and others including Cameron Carrus) to record his songs as Zografi Music. This is from the most recent release.
2. "Stop for a Minute" by Megan Palmer
Next up, we have the third release from Megan Palmers new EP which brings together her music career with her medical career for the first time.
3. "A New Day is Gonna Dawn" by Flying Buffaloes
Today brings a new single from Nashville's own Flying Buffalos. They are a great live band, and I look forward to seeing them in person again. Great song.
4. "Power of My Love" by Rory D'Lasnow
Our second featured track from New Jersey songwriter Ryan D'Lasnow is a moving song that he calls his most personal song to date. Check it out.
5. "Rainbow" by Strolling Omens
Strolling Omens is a new (I think) band featuring our friend, drummer David Strayer - who we first met on Wednesday nights with Tim Carroll at Fran's and who more recently has been working with E2TG favorite Renee Wahl.
6. "City Hurts" by Supercrashingstar
Last week, we had a new project from Sverre of Supercrashingstar, and I teased a new release from that band - well here it is. Supercrashingstar have always been one of the hardest bands for me to pin down, but I have loved their music nonetheless, and this new album, Digital Distortions, is no exception. Check it out.
7. "Memory Hill" by Livingmore
Take Me - the new album from L.A. band Livingmore is out now. The band features Alex Moore and Spencer Livingston. Livingston has been an E2TG favorite almost since day one (originally with his old band The Alternates). Livingmore has been working hard and making music for several years, and it is exciting to reconnect with them on this fantastic new music.
8. "Burn Out" by Middle Child
This is the debut single from this L.A. based indie alt-pop duo which features another E2TG favorite from the early days - Mikey Wax. Celebrating 10 years of E2TG this month has either intentionally or coincidentally led to reconnecting with some of the artists I have covered over the years.
9. "The Blues That Come from Missing You" by Eric Brace
The always incredible Nashville songwriter Eric Brace's new single is a throw back to the music of the 1930s. Just a wonderful and lovely song which features multi-instrumentalist Rory Hoffman along with Mark Fain and Lynn Williams.
10. "I Can't Wait for Summer" by Desert Hollow
And we close with a track from the just recently released EP Thirsty - by this California based duo of Xander Hitzig and Nicole Olney. We had previously featured one or two of the other tracks from this album.
