Thinking today about kindness. First of all - don't believe the hype - kindness still exists and it is all around, you just have to look for it.
I do feel like in some circles kindness gets a bad rap. The whole mistaking kindness for weakness thing.
But then, I heard something yesterday - the whole rant was kind of stupid, and I won't go into details, but the relevant part was some idea that somehow - "toughness" or aggressiveness was kind and gentleness was unkind. First of all, I do agree that there are times when being direct is ultimately kinder than hedging ones comments. But, that directness issued too abruptly or sharply - can be less than kind.
Ultimately, I think kindness is thinking of others as well as thinking of ones self (self-kindness is important too). Apply that how you will...

"Help, I Was Almost Myself" by No. 1 Knife (from Mr. Nickelsworth - 2020)
First up, we have a track from the debut album from the project featuring Brian Wright and Sally Jaye. I couldn't find a No. 1 Knife video on You Tube (a bunch of knife videos for sure), so I found Brian and Sally and some other folks from the E2TG Residency show that Cafe Rooster did a few years back.
"Missing Anything" by Rod Picott (from Wood, Steel, Dust & Dreams - 2021)
What is better than a new Rod Picott album album? How about a double album? Even better, it is a double album of songs co-written with Slaid Cleaves. The album is due out Friday - so no video - but I found a 2012 video of Slaid and Rod performing in a church in Maine.

Coincidentally, it was five years ago today that Bark appeared at The 5 Spot for the 5th Anniversary E2TG Extravaganza. And here they are in the shuffle with a track from their 2019 album.
"This Broken Heart" by Arms & Armour (from Into This Wide Unknown - 2021)
This EP won't be out until June. Arms & Armour are a duo from Cleveland, Ohio. This new release was produced by Martin Bisi (Sonic Yout, Unsane, and Violent Femmes). Great stuff. No video of this new material since it isn't out, but we have an older Arms & Armour video in the playlist.
"Ash Planet" by Golden Ghost (from The Big Sleep: Future - 2019)
When this album was released in 2019, it followed a seven year hiatus from the project featuring Laura Goetz. This was a favorite of mine from that time.
