All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed seven - January - July2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

I have been fortunate enough to meet and come to know many powerful, amazing women in my life. In particular (in the context of E2TG), I know a ton of incredible women who are somehow connected to the world of music.

Over the last couple of years, as the #MeToo movement has built steam, I have been dismayed to learn how many of them have their own #MeToo stories. These are stories about sexual assault and about misogyny (both overt and less overt). and I have even come to recognize behaviors I have demonstrated which run counter to my stated and intended beliefs and values.

When a woman tells us what her experience has been, we need to believe her and listen. Believing women is not as I've heard some men say, a repudiation of due process, it is a demand for fair and honest due process which has been denied to so many for so long.

From my very personal experience, those being truthful are the ones who demand investigations, demand evidence be judged, and who demand justice. Those who have something to hide - push for a rush to judgement based upon emotion and preconceived ideas.

Well, it's Thursday, and as we do every week, we close out the week with two days of shuffling up tunes from our "New Music" playlist.   Let's shuffle!

"Rumble on Arab St" by Rude Audio

Rude Audio - led by Mark Ratcliff start us off with a track from the Rude Redux release. Some powerhouse electronic music (that incorporates live instruments with electronic sounds).  Rude Audio is based in London and brings together talented artists and musicians. A great soundtrack to the first part of my rainy commute.

"Comrades (Vieon Remix)" by Rodney Cromwell

Keeping the electronic sounds coming, we stay in the London area for a track from Rodney's English Disco by Adam Cresswell who records as Rodney Cromwell. This remix is by English electronic artist Matt Wild - who works as Vieon.

"Waves of Freedom" by Eric Andersen
We move far afield from the electronic sounds of our first two tracks, with another track from The Essential Eric Andersen.  This 50 year old folk song is timely as ever. It was originally included on Andersen's 1969 album A Country Dream.

"I'd Rather Be Surprised" by Martha Reich

We keep things in a folk groove with a more recent song - this from New Mexico singer-songwriter Martha Reich from the album Brave Bird which came out in May. This one took awhile to reach the shuffle, but it was worth the wait. Great song, great sound.  More to come.

"Playboy" by Buck N Stuff

American Aquarium, Sam Morrow, Los Colognes - these are some of the artists/bands that are keeping the three members of Buck N Stuff busy these days. That has always been the thing about Buck N Stuff - that they are all in-demand musicians who came together to make music unlike any they play for others - which I can say with confidence because it is music unlike any other period.  This is a song written by Eddie Miller and Bob Morris and recorded by Buck Ownes.

"Original Rudegirl Sound" by Neville and Sugary Staple

Next up, we have some two-tone ska from Neville Staple of the Specials and featuring the vocals of Christine Sugary Staple (his wife/manager). This is from the album Rude Rebels which is due out tomorrow.

"Open Up Your Door" by Freevolt

Next we have the title track and our final track to feature from the album Open Up You Doors by Massachusetts band Freevolt.  Freevolt's influences some include the kind of music that influenced the early ska bands like The Specials - which is not to imply that Freevolt are by any means a ska band. Freevolt is a highly original band that combines a variety of sounds into a fun and cohesive package.

"Goodnight From Too Far Away" by MJ Bishop

Finally we close with a poignant track - our last to feature from Give it Away Again. You may recall, me mentioning that I met MJ and got this album when I met her last year at the Wild Ponies Happy Hour of Americana Fest. So, I guess it took right at a year to feature all of the songs from the album.
