All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I appropriated a Todd Snider lyric for today's subtitle - even though I had a different Todd Snider song in the today's Music City Monday Shuffle. Today's shuffle is a nice reminder of why Nashville is the best place to live for this music fan. Time is short - so I'm going to get right to it!
"Sorry I Dropped Your Drink" by Joshua Black Wilkins
Joshua Black Wilkins is not only a talented singer-songwriter, he is also an incredible photographer and visual artist. This is a track from his recently released album Valentine Sessions. I recently saw Wilkins at Muddy Roots - definitely a highlight in a day full of highlights.
"Age Like Wine" by Todd Snider
It's impossible to know if East Nashville would be "East Nashville" if it wasn't for East Nashville Skyline and Todd Snider. I do know that that world would be a far less interesting place without this man and his music. Sue and I use Todd's version of "Enjoy Yourself" from that classic album as our Outro song every week on Double Shot. "Enjoy Yourself" is the last song on the album. This is the first song.
"Babyhead" by Diarrhea Planet
Diarrhea Planet recently ended their run. One of Nashville most interesting and best bands called it quit with a series of shows at Exit/In (one of Nashville's most storied venues). I remember several years ago, a friend of mine started a food truck selling ice cream shakes and sodas. Several bands played their grand opening event, and they had offered to name a product after the bands, however, the decided against naming a shake or soda - Diarrhea Planet. TBH, I'm still about fifty-fifty as to if I would have tried it if they had done it.
"Velvet Low Down Blues" by Blackfoot Gypsies
Again, random shuffle - I don't directly choose when certain songs appear in the shuffle - but today happens to be the birthday of Blackfoot Gypsies frontman Matthew Paige. This is from their latest album, To the Top. A Blackfoot Gyspies live show should be on everybody's bucket list - I think.
"Who's Gonna Feed Them Hogs?" by Jason Ringenberg
Jason and the Scorchers were an vital part of Nashville's musical history. Jason Ringenberg remains a central figure in Nashville music. He eventually reinvented himself as Farmer Jason and delighted the children and (yikes) grandchildren of his fans. This is from a compilation of his solo work, and it is a cover of Tom T. Hall song. I dare say Tom T. Hall is another central figure in Nashville's music history, and his music has delighted several generations of music fans of all ages.
"Shot" by Andrew Leahey and the Homestead
At Americana Fest this year, Andrew Leahey was noted for his (albeit incredible) hair and his band's cover of the 80's New Wave classic, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World.". What many of us know is that he is an amazing songwriter, performer, musician and journalist. This is from his album called Skyline in Central Time. The second "skyline" album title in today's shuffle.
"Suitcases and Truck Stops" by Erica Blinn
I feel pretty safe saying that if you don't know the name Erica Blinn, you soon will. A powerhouse performer, an amazing songwriter, and a hell of a musician. This weekend, she was spotted playing bass alongside Aaron Lee Tasjan. I just saw her a week ago, bringing down the house at Dee's. If you get the chance to see her, don't miss it."Slow Motion" by Solar Twin
Shane Tutmarc was an established and well-known musician in Seattle when he moved to Nashville several years ago. He is a true artist - forever exploring new directions. His most recent project is called Solar Twin. This is a track from the 2017 album Pink Noise. It casts Tutmarc's wonderful songs in the context of electronic music. It is a delight. I was so happy when we were able to include him in our E2TG anniversary residency back in June.
"Lovely Christmas!" by Jason Ringenberg; Kristi Rose
It's officially Fall - so it's time for Christmas music - yes? No? Well, the thing about random shuffles is .... anyway, regardless of the season - this is delight. The incredible talented vocalist Kristi Rose sings a sweet holiday song - while the erstwhile rock and roll singer Ringenberg provides the counterpoint.
