All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

SAVE THE DATE!!!!!  Thursday, November 15, 2018 - We have a pretty cool event in the works.  More to come!

After a rather dreary week here in Nashville, the sun is actually shining today. So there's that.

There is a lot going on, and as usual, it is music that is pulling me through.  Today is Wednesday - so let's get "Wild"!  This is a shuffle from all the songs saved to my phone memory right now.

"Red Rover" by Bay Kee

First up, we have a track from the album Wonder Wild by New Jersey band Bay Kee.  This is/was a side project featuring Christine Spilka of the band The Jean Jackets.  This was music that came our way via Mama Coco's Funky Kitchen. The album was released in early 2016.

"Sometimes I Don't Even..." by Randy Weeks

Next up, we have a track from Sugarfinger by Austin, Texas based singer-songwriter Randy Weeks.  Weeks formed The Lonesome Strangers in Los Angeles in the mid 80s, and Lucinda Williams cut one of his songs. Wonderful music.

"White Light" by Autumn

Appropriately - with the return of cool weather - we have two songs in a row from our "New Music" playlist by bands whose name references the current season.  Autumn plays lush, dark pop music, and they are based in Minneapolis. Their current album is called Chandelier.

"Laurasong" by The Pull of Autumn

The Pull of Autumn is based in Boston - they are a global collaboration "super group of sorts" featuring members of Fashion, Johanna's House of Glamour, and Belly/Throwing Muses.  The band includes Fred Abong - whose solo album we have been featuring.  This track - written by Bruce MacLeod about the late wife of band mate Daniel Darrow. Laura Darrow contributed vocals to another track on this release. Swell new music from some folks who began making music in the 1980s.

"Andrew Eldritch is Moving Back to Leeds" by The Mountain Goats

Next up, we have a track from the sixteenth and most recent album by The Mountain Goats.  The album is called GOTHS and was inspired by the bands that band leader John Darnielle listened to growing up.  This particular song references Andrew Eldritch - the frontman and only remaining original member of the Sisters of Mercy.

"The Devil and Daved" by Jeremiah Tall

Next up, we have a track from Pennsylvania based one-man band Jeremiah Tall. This is from his 2014 album Waking - which we featured back in the day. A wonderful supernatural story/song.

"Smart Ass" by Maynard and the Musties

I was hoping to see Maynard and the Musties last Friday, but a ill-timed rain shower knocked out the outdoor show. Led by Joe Maynard - I was first introduced to The Musties through Couch by Couchwest. A native of Middle Tennessee - Joe recently relocated here after a long music career based in Brooklyn.  This is a track from their 2014 album Fall on In.

"Bodas De Oro" by Blue Largo

As Blue Largo prepare for the release of their album - Before the Devil Steals Your Soul, the shuffle brings up another track. This one is a Mambo guitar instrumental that pays tribute to the great Cuban guitarist Manuel Galban.

"King of Beers" by Treat Her Right

We close with a great song from Tied the Tracks (1989) by Boston band Treat Her Right. The band was led by the late Mark Sandman who went on to form Morphine. Treat Her Right was one of my favorite bands from back in the day.
