E2TG 2/2/2021 - ODAAT - So Alive Mix (Dub Enough Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

One day at a time - it is a cliché I guess, but honestly it is a good way to live life. Grief and stress can be overwhelming - especially when you are trying to imagine days, weeks, months, and even years ahead.  So, you focus on getting through today - sometimes you have to break the day into hours, etc.

For me, as it has been for as long as I can remember music provides healing - it doesn't have to be "healing" music.  Sometimes it is silly or loud or aggressive or pretty or complex or simple music.

One thing taking an unexpected extended leave from E2TG has given me - is a chance to once again reevaluate where I am and where I want to be. About the only decision I have made is that there is nothing to be done but to move forward.  If I try to "catch up" on the music I missed in January - I will just keep getting further behind. I have been slowly working my way through e-mail and have begun to update my future release lists.  Honestly, I mainly use that for my own purposes - but if you check it out - you might find out about an upcoming release you didn't know about.

I uploaded a bunch of music to my phone last night (my memory card is almost full - I need a bigger card - which are now cheaper than what I paid for the one I have.

Anyway - today's shuffle is below...

The Featured Friday Playlist Will Return!

Tuesday Morning Shuffle

"Dub Enough" by Loud Apartment (from System Breakdown - 2020)
First up today is a project led by Nevaris A.C. and featuring the great Bill Laswell. It also features DJ Logic, Peter Apfelbaum, Will Bernard, and Lockatron.  It funk art music, and it is really, really good.
"Many Betrayals" by Walking On Landmines (from Heavy Callous Heart - 2020)
Next up, we have a track from the most recent release by Memphis based hardcore band Walking on Landmines. I discovered them via the Nashville Punk Facebook group, and I am a big fan.  The video playlist includes about fifteen minutes of a live performance by the band. Check it out.
"No One Gets Pulled Over on Christmas Eve" by The Smoking Flowers (Single - 2020)
Christmas may be over, but it is never a bad time for Smoking Flowers.  This was part of a joint single release with Dee Oh Gee on Devil's Tower Records.  An instant classic and a cautionary tale of sorts.
"So Alive" by Jon Worthy (from Only a Dream - 2018)
Going back a couple of years, we have a track from E2TG favorite Jon Worthy.  Worthy has been busy during the pandemic, and we have featured several of his 2020 singles. This is a full-band album with his band The Bends.
"'Rand' (Pandemic Song) (Full Band Version)" by Steve Forbert (Single 2020)
Speaking of pandemic - the legendary songwriter offers his own take on the world in which we all find ourselves.
"City in the Sky" by Patricio Johnson (from You Gotta Be Quick Around Here - 2019)
And we close things out with a 2019 release from singer-songwriter and fellow WXNA DJ Patricio Johnson.  Catch him on WXNA every Wednesday with the Wednesday Night Pint at 11pm-Midnight.  A great way to close out the shuffle.
