Kind of a short Playlist this week, but that is good because it's kind of a busy time here.

"You Healed Me" by Susan Anders (single - 2021)
We included the video for this song earlier in the week, it is the first single from the forthcoming 13 Women album by Nashville singer-songwriter Susan Anders. Each of the 13 songs on the album was inspired by remarkable women. This song was inspired by Henrietta Lacks. Lacks had cervical cells removed in 1952 without her consent. The cells were multiplied by the millions. They are still used today in medical research - and helped develop the polio vaccine and the HPV vaccine.
"Out of the Dark" by Joyann Parker (from Out of the Dark - 2021)
We featured Minneapolis singer-songwriter Joyann Parker back in 2018 with her Hard to Love album. She is back with a brand new album, and we have the title track in this week's Playlist. Parker sings wonderful, joyful songs with a ferocious growl. This is a wonderful album.
"Compass" by The Gypsy West (single 2021)
Now Boston based (originally based in Brooklyn), our association with The Gypsy West goes back to the early days of E2TG. The new single finds the band continuing to move forward musically. Always good to check in with them.
"Shotgun Hearts" by Amy Speace with The Orphan Brigade (single 2021)
I first saw The Orphan Brigade at a Music City Roots show a few years back. They are an all-star collection of Music City Veterans who have in the past recorded in a cave and in a haunted house. They team up with one of our favorite East Nashville singer-songwriters on some new music.
"Movies - Live" by Jeremy Ivey (from The Monolith Sessions - 2021)
A song from his 2020 Waiting Out the Storm album recorded live for this new live release. Jeremy Ivey is another of our favorite East Nashville songwriters. If you only know him as the husband of Margo Price, you are missing out - check out this track and then dig in for all his great music.
"Don't You Forget About Me" by Carl Anderson; The Salinger *Not Our Songs Cover Series (single 2021)
I believe this is the second (but I could have missed one or two during my month away) cover song from this series. I don't know much about The Salinger - but Carl Anderson is a long time E2TG favorite and this Simple Minds song - from The Breakfast Club was an iconic part of my younger years.
"Je Ne Sais Pas" by Mighty Joe Nolan (single 2021)
And what better way to close out this segment of music then with long-time E2TG fave and friend Mighty Joe Nolan. The title of this new single is in French, but I do not know what it means. I do know that Mighty Joe - lives up to his name. As I have mentioned before he is really a modern Renaissance man - journalist, poet, singer-songwriter, podcaster.... and much more.
