Another Friday means a brand new Featured Friday Playlist... let's get to it... The recap begins below the jump...
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "The Hustle" by Mercy Bell
First up, we have a track from the forthcoming Golden Child EP by Nashville singer-songwriter Mercy Bell. Golden Child will be out August 6. This song was co-written by E2TG favorite Paisley Fields and Noah Smith.
2. "Starring in a Play" by Georgia English
Nashville's Georgia English has just released Pain and Power - her Illustrated album. English is a co-founder of Girls Write Nashville. She is also engaged to Kaston Guffey of E2TG favorites My Politic. My Politic, Georgia English, and another E2TG favorite Adeem the Artist will all be at Dee's in Madison on August 26th!
3. "Fake Friends (Party with Ghosts)" by Tayls
The long anticipated debut album by Tayls is out now - it is called Have You Ever? I've Always. A great Nashville band.
4. "All the Pretty Things" by Don Gallardo
I was fortunate enough to catch the album release show last night. This is the title track from that new album. The album was written and recorded remotely during quarantine.
5. "Aros I fi Yna" by N'famady Kouyate
We earlier featured a single by this Welsh-based, Guinian musician. The EP is out now and this is the title track. I have quickly become a big fan. The internet translation tells me the title means Wait for Me Then - in Welsh.
6. "Stereo" by Punk as a Doornail
Any band that uses a skateboard guitar is okay in my book. This California band recently released they album Dead as a Sad Snail - and this is being marketed as a single.
7. "Nuclear War - Bassically Kick and Bass Rerub" by Sun Ra
Next up, we have a stunning bass re-rub of the Sun Ra classic by live house music collective Bassically - which is led by Raz Olsher.
8. "Dark Clouds" by Hans Deville (with Andrew J. Davies
Next up, we have the latest single from singer-songwriter Hans Deville (King Prawn) who is joined by dark country artist Andrew J Davies (of Frank From Blue Velvet). Deville debut album Prophesies of The Lost is out August 4.
9. "Grabbin' a Slice" by The Great American Novel
And, we close with the latest single from long-time E2TG favorites The Great American Novel. The long-running Brooklyn band - was on the forefront of the period of E2TG history where NY/NJ bands dominated our playlists.
