It is finally Friday (for some reason short work weeks always feel so long) - but it is Friday, and that means it is time for another Featured Friday Playlist.  We managed to keep the list rather short again this week, but it is chock-full of great music from all over the place.  As always, we don't have any limits on genre or things like that.

Please consider following our Spotify Playlist so you can enjoy the music every week. 

And, as always, I remind you - if you discover artists you enjoy, find meaningful ways to support them according to your means - buy music and merch, attend shows when you are able, share the artists' music with your friends, follow their pages on social media. You get the idea.  I maintain that Spotify CAN be a good resource to discover new music (although the algorithms can be heavy-handed and lack the subtly of organically discovering music on your own) but it is not a great way to support artists. 

Rant over - I do E2TG because music has been and continues to be important. Enjoy

 

    Featured Friday Playlist

Featured Friday Playlist recap (part 1) (songs 1-10):

1. "Kokomo" by Ghost Town Remedy

Never Nude records just released Cheese Pizza in Paradise Vol 1 - which features punk rock version of surf/yacht rock favorites.  Included is E2TG faves - Ghost Town Remedy - with their take on this 1988 Beach Boys song heard in the motion picture Cocktail. 

2. "Mercy Redux" by Ben Arthur

E2TG favorite Ben Arthur has been on a roll lately, and he just put out this new single with a very important message for our times. 

3. "I'll Never See" by Down Boy

Nashville funk rock jam band make their E2TG with this recent single - which you might have heard on Greetings from Nashville on WXNA yesterday. 

4. "King of the Rat Race" by EG Vines

EG Vines returns to the Playlist with his brand new single.  I may have been late to the game on his music, but I am all in now. 

5. "Up With the Larks" by The Gorstey Lea Street Choir

I was blown away by the first single I heard from this album, and I have been captivated ever since.  ...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I is out now. A wonderfully diverse set up of music from a band I have become a fan of pretty quickly. 

6. "Paint the Town" by Ro Halfhide

Next, we have the title track from the just release new album from Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter and producer Ro Halfhide. 

7. "Livin' to Love You" by Elijah Ocean

New Nashvillian, Elijah Ocean will be releasing Born Blue - his new album on August 13.  This the brand new single. 

8. "Ain't It a Shame (When Your Horse Goes Lame)" by Wild Earp

Okay - so we have already featured this song before but it is a good one, and the new album Dyin' for Easy Livin' is out today - so enjoy!

9. "Sharp - Live Session Los Angeles, CA, 2021" by Livingmore (Jam in the Van)

L.A. band Livingmore - with a great track recorded live for the Jam in the Van sessions. 

10. "This Land is Your Land" by Liz Vice

And, we close with a stunning update to the Woody Guthrie classic from this Portland native now based in Brooklyn. The track sounds great, but more importantly it drops difficult yet vital truths that we, as a nation, need to hear and acknowledge.  It was released on July 4.  Check it out!
