E2TG 11/10/2021 - Mid-End Week Post - Told Mara Mix (The Swoop Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

So, this will be my last post of the week.  With taking some time off and holidays in the coming weeks, I am probably going to put the Featured Friday Playlist on hold until the first of the year - when I will likely have a pretty big playlist to "catch up".  In the meantime, I will continue posting shuffles whenever I am able, and I will begin working on some Christmas playlists and seeing what sense I can make out of this year for some year-end wrap up posts.

Stay Tuned.

In the meantime, give this week's Playlist a spin, and checkout today's Shuffle after the jump.

E2TG 6/4/2021 - Featured Friday - Battleship Chains Mix (Paper Piano Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

We've reached the end of another week and that means that it is time for another Featured Friday Playlist.

Thanks to everyone who has followed the Playlist on Spotify - it means a lot.  This week's list is about the same length as last week - I think I have hit upon a good size for the list. Hopefully, the bands and artists will cooperate with their release schedules. (Just kidding).

Let's go!

E2TG 11/18/2020 - The End of the End of the Beginning of... - Crossfading Mix (The Great Swim Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Time marches on and we remain mired in uncertainty, chaos, and in the midst of a pandemic that has entered a deadly new wave with almost zero response to curb it. The vaccine news is encouraging but we need to take action now.  IF new shutdowns are off the table - then it will take a concerted effort to follow guidelines for mask wearing, social distancing, etc. This is not oppression it is a reasonable reaction to the situation....

Oh yeah, and Trump needs to concede.

We are up to the penultimate recap post for this week's Featured Friday Playlist... songs 21-25:

21. "Free Advice" by Cindy
We featured San Francisco band Cindy earlier this year when their Free Advice album was released. The LP quickly went out of print, but now Mt. St. Mtn. and Tough Love Records from the UK have teamed up to reissue the album. So, we celebrate by revisiting the album via the title track.
22. "Betoni kukkii" by Gim Kordon
Next up, we have the new single from the Finnish band whose name was inspired by the bassist for Sonic Youth.  Like that band, Gim Kordon's music is noisy and wonderful.  Check it out.
23. "Wide Eyed Lady" by Lou McMahon
Next up, we have a lovely, dark folk song from Irish singer and songwriter Lou McMahon. What a great addition to our Playlist.
24. "I Want You Around" by Sour Ops
Coming closer to home, we have a new single from Nashville's Sour Ops - the band is led by Price Harrison - who was in the early 80s band 69 Tribe and more recently is a part of the band Snakehips -which is led by his brother Mark who is also part of Sour Ops. Pedal steel master Paul Neihaus plays on this track. This is so amazing.
25. "Going to the City" by Antonio Lopez
We close things out today, with a delightful new single from Colorado folk artist Antonio Lopez. I am digging this one quite a bit.
Tomorrow - we wrap up this week's Playlist recap with songs 26-29...

E2TG 10/29/2020 - One Foot - Something Else Mix (Cereal Man Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Today, we wrap up our recap of this week's Featured Friday Playlist and make way for a new weekly Playlist arriving around midnight or there about.... Songs 26-30...

26. "Video Crash 83" by The Subtheory
First up today, we have a track from the new album by electronic music artist The Subtheory (Andy Hill) who divides his time between L.A. and London.  An awesome instrumental to start things off today.
27. "Numb" by The Agency
Next up, we have the lead track from the seasonally appropriately titles In the Haunted Woods by UK band The Agency.  Cool stuff. Check it out.
28. "Why" by Shy
Up next, we have a new single from Shy - who is Eritrean-Canadian underground recording artist from Toronto. Adding some undergroup hip-hop to these week's list.
29. "War Cry" by Ashes to Omens
We move from Toronto hip-hop to Athens, Georgia hard rock - with the latest single from Ashes to Omens. The band formed in 2017 quickly dealing with vocalist James Branton's cancer diagnosis and recovery.  This new track deals with overcoming mental illness during difficult times. A much needed message these days.
30. "All Eyes" by The Fortune
We always like to close out each week's playlist with some really interesting music, and this week, we have a new track from The Fortune - a duo of childhood friends from India. Their sound mixes pop music with elements of traditional Indian music.
See you tomorrow with a new Playlist...

E2TG 9/25/2020 - Featured Friday - Give Me Love Mix (Lone Wolves Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Well this has been quite a week on so many different levels...   I feel the need to unplug a bit this weekend.  We shall see how that goes.

It is Friday and that means that it is time for a brand new Feature Friday Playlist.  Kind of a short list this week, but jam packed with goodness.  We start our recap below.  We will continue in this space over the next week.

Stay safe, practice kindness when  you can, be angry if you need to, and combat fear with action.

E2TG 6/26/2020 - Featured Friday - Lockdown Mix (Profits Speak Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Your daily reminder:  The pandemic is not over, wear a damn mask, Black Lives Still Matter, White Privilege is real, police should not be the first responder to every situation that arises. The next time you see a person of color acting "suspicious" ask yourself several questions before you call the police: would their actions be "suspicious" if they were white? do they deserve to die for whatever it is they are doing that you see as "suspicious"? Is there some other action you can take rather than calling the cops? Like ignoring them? Walking away? Talking to them? Anything?

I was thinking about the saying, "ignorance is bliss". These days there is a lot to unpack in that saying, but I would add at least one codicil: "willful ignorance is evil".

Well, it is time for a new Featured Friday Playlist!  We have another good one this week.  About six fewer songs than last week.  A fair number of E2TG favorites, local favorites, and a health dose of newcomers to E2TG.

Dig in and please Follow the Playlist.  We will begin our recap with the first 5 songs on the Playlist below the jump.  Next week, we will recap five songs a day in this space through Thursday - after which we will start it all over again.  By the way, the only reason I don't do a video playlist on Featured Friday is because I started the video playlist as a way to hear the songs being featured in an easy way.  With Featured Friday - the songs can be streamed and heard on Spotify.
