Mondo Monday Music Shuffle - Trampoline Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook

Another week... the last full week of October. A rainy, gloomy day in Nashville with cooler weather in the forecast.  I've been running behind all day, but I got a few minutes to write this.

Looks like a busy week for live music in Nashville... including Saturday at Grimey's Rocktoberfest to benefit WXNA.  Details to follow.

Here we go with our Monday shuffle - for now, we are shuffling from the "New Music" playlist... trying to get through as many of those songs as we can before the end of the year.

"Use Your Words" by Devon Gilfillian

We start things off with another track from the Strange Freedom: Songs of Love and Protest album. This by soulful Nashville singer-songwriter Devon Gilfillian. Love this track.

"The River" by MJ Bishop

Next up, a really cool track from Give It Away again.  This one seemed in sync with my morning drive - as I approached the Cumberland River as it was playing. MJ Bishop is a Nashville singer-songwriter.

"Between Piety and Desire" by Kristin Hersh

This may be my favorite track so far from Wyatt at the Coyote Palace by ex-Throwing Muses member Kristin Hersh.  This double album was issue on vinyl earlier this year on Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records which is based in Athens Georgia.

"Dunwoody Train" by Jefferson Ross

Speaking of Georgia... we have a live instrumental track from the album Live at Hillbilly Haiku. Dunwoody is in Georgia... You may have heard this song on a recent Double Shot show.

"Class Reunion" by Ladies Gun Club

Next up, a favorite track from one of my favorite bands.  Ladies Gun Club are Sarah Roberts and Sally Jaye. The album is Take My Love Away. The song is about that most American of traditions, the class reunion. Ladies Gun Club will be opening for The Legendary Shack Shakers Saturday at The Basement. Justin and the Cosmics are also on that bill.

"Asana" by Cellarscape

Cellarscape is a UK band - the project of producer, musician, and author Paul Terry. Exo Echo is the sixth and latest release under the Cellarscape moniker. The music features acoustic guitars, strings, vocal harmonies, and beats - all done by Terry.

"Can't Lose What You Never Had" by Eli Cook

Next, another track form High Dollar Gospel. Cook - based in Charlottesville, VA - injects authentic blues influences into rich rootsy music. One of my favorites of 2017.

"Precaution" by Pylon Reenactment Society

Pylon was one of the most important bands of the early Athens, Georgia scene. They were R.E.M.'s favorite bands. The band originally existed from 1978 to 1983.  They reunited in 1989 and again in 2004. In 2009, guitarist Randy Bewley passed away - effectively ending this legendary band. Vocalist Vanessa Briscoe Hay formed Pylon Reenactment Society to perform at some release shows of Pylon reissues.  Now, this - better-than-a cover band - just released an EP called Part Time Punks.  I am so excited to have this in my library to feature!

"New York City" by Corey Ledet and His Zydeco Band

And we close things out with some Louisiana Zydeco music about the Big Apple.  From the album, Standing on Faith.  Ledet is a Grammy nominated artist.
