Today's shuffle is brought to you by the word indictments....
*****************************************************************************

I'm back after an extra long weekend, and it is Halloween. Personally, I think we all need to just go with funny costumes this year... nothing will come close to being as scary as the news these days...

No Halloween shuffle- just more scary good songs from our "New Music" playlist.  Enjoy!

"Pray for Rain" by Eli Cook

Up first is the first of two tracks from Eli Cook's awsome High Dollar Gospel album.  One of my favorites of 2017.

"Give God the Blues" by Phil Madeira

Next up is another track from Strange Freedom: Songs of Love and Protest. The compilation album recently put out on Cafe Rooster Records.  This is one is by the legendary Phil Madeira known for his work with Buddy Miller, and whose songs have been recorded by the likes of   The Civil Wars, Buddy Miller, Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Bruce Hornsby, Keb' Mo', Garth Brooks, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Shawn Mullins, The North Mississippi Allstars, and others.

"In Stitches" by Kristin Hersh

Next up - another from Wyatt at the Coyote Palace by Kristin Hersh.  This double album was released in 2016 but had a vinyl reissue in 2017 which is when I got the opportunity to feature it.

"Live it Up" by Laurence Jones

Next, we have the title track from the recent (but not latest) album by Laurence Jones. Jones is a young UK blues guitar phenom.

"So Sweet"by Taj Mahal (with Cootie Stark)

Speaking of the blues... we have some Piedmont blues from the "King of the Piedmont Blues" Cootie Stark with the legendary Taj Mahal.  This is from Labor of Love - which was released late last year in conjunction with Music Maker Relief Foundation who released Cootie Stark's two album in the late 90s and early 2000s.  Stark passed away in 2005.  The album Labor of Love features Taj Mahal recording with several artists who had been helped by the foundation.

"Mississippi" by Rising Appalachia

Next up, some spirited world folk/soul music from Alive - the recent live album by Rising Appalachia who formed in Atlanta.

"Mother's Prayer" by Eli Cook

Second - more prayers from Eli Cook - our second track today from High Dollar Gospel.

"w a n d e r i n ( c o d a )" by Ugggy

We close things out with a track from The Ghost EP (appropriate for today) which was released back in June. This was the final track from that release.  Ugggy!
