Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - No Roses Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Onward, it's Friday!  It's been a crazy week!  Looking forward to seeing some great music tonight... starting with my regular Tim Carroll Rock and Roll Happy Hour and then Blackfoot Gypsies are playing at Mercy Lounge.

Now to the shuffle!

"Take Heart, Take Care" by Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster

We start out with the title track from Arkansas singer-songwriter Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster (Water Liars, Marie/Lepanto).  It is beautiful music complex and nuanced but approachable. The album will be out August 30.

"Songs of the Highway" by Josh Gray

Next up, we have another title track - this from Nashville singer-songwriter Josh Gray. The song reflects on Gray's move to Nashville.  Look for Josh Gray playing the E2TG Residency on October 9 with The Truehearts.  Expect to the see the full Residency line-up very, very soon!

"The Story of Now" by Rusty Reid

Next up, we have another track from Head to Heart by Seattle (by way of Texas) singer-songwriter Rusty Reid.  Reid is a true child of the 60's and his themes and approach to music are revolutionary in the truest sense of that word.  It's really wonderful and inspiring music.

"No Roses" by Golden Ghost

The Big Sleep: Future - is the second installment in Golden Ghost's The Big Sleep. Golden Ghost features Laura Goetz who has worked with Casanets. Previous Golden Ghost releases have featured contributions from members of Deer Tick, Dirty Projectors, Phosphorescent and more. This is a stunning beautiful piece of music, and I cannot wait to share the rest of the album.  The Big Sleep: Future will be out two weeks from today.

"Folds of Your Dress" by Rod Picott

Rod Picott is back today with another track from his album Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil.   We are now seven months through 2019, and this remains among my favorites of the year.

"Eyes Sink" by Mouth Reader

More good stuff from Holographic Phase by Murfreesboro based Mouth Reader.  In addition to their great music, this band always has striking and creative visual imagery.
"Bad Guy" by Greg Felden

Next up, we have another track from California singer-songwriter Greg Felden's album Made of String.  Really digging this album - check it out.

"Farewell Angelina" by Jason Ringenberg

The first time Jason Ringenberg covered Bob Dylan ended up being pretty legendary.  The Scorchers version of Absolutely Sweet Marie helped to cement the band's reputation. The other Scorchers originally thought Ringenberg wrote the song - which he brought to the group.  Jason is back with a stellar new album, and it closes with another Dylan song.  This song was written in 1964 intended for Another Side of Bob Dylan, but did not make it onto the album. It remained relatively unknown until it appeared in 1991 on one of the Bootleg series albums.  Truthfully, as he does, Ringenberg makes the song his own.

"Just Let Me In" by Ben Davis Jr.

We close with another track from Suthernahia by singer-songwriter Ben Davis Jr., who is from Southern Ohio.  I am really digging into this album nicely and loving what I am hearing.
