Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - On the Village Green Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

Wild Wednesday is here!  On Monday, we feature Nashville music- past and present.  On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, we feature new music - mostly music submitted to us for featuring.  Wednesday, all bets are off. These are just cool tunes and sounds that have somehow made there way onto my phone memory card.  There may be some new music, but there will also be... well, show not tell - let's shuffle!

"It Was A Very Good Year" by Frank Sinatra

First up, why not begin with the Chairman of the Board.  Francis K. Sinatra with a song written by Ervin Drake in 1961, and first recorded by Bob Shane with the Kingston Trio.  This is from a compilation called Sinatra Reprise: The Very Good Years.  It was originally released by Sinatra on his 1965 album September of My Years.

"Moisturizer" by Willie Dustice

Stephen Nicholas Roberts of The Big Dumb aka Afrosapian aka Willie Dustice is up next with a track from How 2 not be Consumed with Existential Dread Everyday which was released back in October. Adding some funk to the shuffle on a Wednesday!  Look for Stephen and the rest of The Big Dumb coming to the E2TG Residency October 23!

"Everything as One"by Shane Alexander

Next up, we have something from our New Music playlist and not only that, we have a first listen to A Life Like Ours - the forthcoming 7th Studio album by California folk rocker Shane Alexander. It is his second self-produced albums at his own Buddhaland Studios in Ventura County, California.  Great stuff, and we will have more to come!

"Quarter in the Can" by Sergio Webb

Next up, we have Nashville guitar whiz Sergio Webb from his Domingo album with a song he wrote with Amelia White. White recorded a version of the song that ended up not making it on to her album, but check out the video playlist for Amelia and Sergio performing this song.

"Cowboy On a Train" by Artie Tobia

Next up, we have a great track from the album Driven by New York singer-songwriter Artie Tobia.  I don't know a lot about him. Near as I can tell, this came to me around the first part of 2019.

"Pretty and Crying" by Maynard and the Musties

Next up, we have a track from Cheap Cigar by New York/Nashville band Maynard and the Musties - led by the one and only Joe Maynard.  The 2012 album was produced by and features the guitar and bgv of Eric "Roscoe" Ambel.

"Screwed Me Over" by LEEROY

Next up, we have a recent single from Western Australian singer-songwriter Leeroy.  Nice pop sensibilities on this one.

"Littleworth" by T. Hardy Morris

Next up, we have a track form the 2015 second album by ex Dead Confederate T. Hardy Morris. The album is called Drownin on a Mountaintop. The album was produced by the Cosmic Thug guys Adam Landry and Justin Collins.  The liner notes on the album were written by Patterson Hood of Drive by Truckers.

"No Surprise" by Joanna Barbera

Joanna Barbera played as part of the last year's E2TG Residency.  This is a track from her fantastic album Imago.

"I'm Over Thinking About You" by Will Payne Harrison

Fresh off his $2 Tuesday CD release show, we have Will Payne Harrison with a track from his new album Living With Ghosts.  It was a great show last night, with Ben de la Cour adding some rhythm guitar to the mix.
