Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - In My Eyes Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is even included.

It is Wednesday and time to get WILD at E2TG!

Let's go!

"I Am a Pilgrim" by The Byrds

In the spirit of "anything goes" Wild Wednesdays - we start with a traditional tune arranged by Chris Hillman and Roger McGuinn from the sixth album by The Byrds.  John Hartford plays fiddle on this song and Roy Husky plays double bass.
"Old San Antonio Road" by Tim Henderson

Next up, the first of two songs in the shuffle from the late Tim Henderson from his Legacy Collection that we go back to often.  This is from the live disc - Volume 2: Live in Texas.  Henderson was a Kerrville New Folk winner in the mid-1970s.

"My Babe" by Stuffy Shmitt

Next up, we have a track from Stuffy Shmitt's covers album, Other People's Stuff - going back to 2003.  This is a cover of The Righteous Brothers song from their debut album 1963. Stuffy's take on the song is presumably about rabbits (source unknown). (inside joke for those not inside).

"Cope" by Gigolo Aunts

The fun thing about Wild Wednesdays is that I discover songs that I didn't know were on my phone and that I often can't remember when or under what circumstance they were added.   Gigolo Aunts were/are? a power pop band that formed in 1981.  "Cope" was released first as a b-side in 1991, then again as an a-side in 1992, and was included on the band's 1993 album Flippin' Out. Cool stuff.

"Heidi and Oscar" by Pilotcan

Next up, a seven+ minute song from Bats Fly Out from Under the Bridge by the Scottish band Pilotcan.  We featured this album heavily earlier in the year.

"Charge and Reload" by The Slytest

Next up, one from the E2TG archives.  The Slytest are a Swedish retro-rock band. This is from their album Epic Ocean Love which we covered in 2016.

"B-Sides (And Long Drives)" by Runner of the Woods

Two songs this week from Nashville's own Runner of the Woods and their album Thirsty Valley.  Cool stuff.  Runner of the Woods hosted an outdoor show/ crawfish boil earlier this year at The Groove with BARK and Jon Latham - two E2TG faves.

"In My Eyes" by Tim Henderson

Next up, we have the lovely song that gave its name to the 6th Volume of Tim Henderson's Legacy Collection.

"dEUS" by rOZZ

We close with a track from Crunching for the C by Belgian folk songwriter rOZZ. This is an album we featured heavily last year. rOZZ is an amateur astronomer and a forum moderator at SETI (Search for Artificial Intelligence).
