Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Back on the Radio Mix (Troubles Troubles Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

ICYMI yesterday, we are in the midst of the Fall Pledge Drive for WXNA Nashville. I could go on and on as to WHY you should want to support WXNA (I just did on Facebook), but if you already know you want to make a donation, the HOW of it is really simple.  Visit wxnafm.org. The info you need is right on the homepage - including details of the various levels of giving and the related premiums being offered.  While at the website, you can livestream the station, check out the schedule and archives, and read more about the things that make WXNA a community resource.

Now, it is time for the Shuffle!

"Everybody's Lookin' At Me Now" by Sonic Reducers

We start things off with another track from the self-titled debut album by Ithaca, New York based Sonic Reducers.  This is the band that features Luke Slomba - who we first met via his work with The Foresters. A ton a great music coming from the various members of The Foresters.  Hayden and Evan are part of Them Airs - who we have been featuring.  Hayden's new solo project is called Merrill Beach.  His earlier project is called Batkhi Dahn.  Drummer Liam has been doing some cool work in the hip-hop realm.   Sonic Reducers are a great straight ahead punk band..

"Troubles, Troubles" by Warren Storm

Next up, we have a first listen to Taking the World, By Storm - a forthcoming album by the "Godfather of Swamp Pop" Warren Storm.  The 82 year old drummer and singer, was an early associate of Bobby Charles.  The new album is a companion to a new book about Storm written by Yvette Landry - who also produced this album.  We featured Landry's own music recently. An earlier version of this song (credited to the legendary J.D. Miller) was released by Storm in the 1950s.  The album features guest spots by Sonny Landreth and John Fogerty among many others.

"Injure the Swallow" by The Pull of Autumn

Boy the shuffle sure has been digging on The Pull of Autumn.  In the last couple of weeks we have featured several songs both from the recent album Afterglow and the earlier self-titled release. This is just a great sounding record of unique and fascinating music.

"Born for This" by Tim Carroll

All You Need is More is the latest release by East Nashville stalwart Tim Carroll. The album features some of his Friday Happy Hour regulars - like Cameron Carrus, Justin Amaral, and Rick Schell.  The songs - well they are Tim Carroll songs which means they are fantastic songs played well.

"Pre-Existing Condition" by David J

The shuffle has also been digging on David J. Haskins of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets fame. Last week, we featured a few tracks from his reissued earlier album.  This is from his most recent solo effort - Missive to An Angel From Halls of Infamy and Allure. David J. is one of those rare artists who have a signature sound that is easily recognizable and timeless, but who also manages to keep things interesting.

"Back on the Radio" by Nick Nace

Nashville's Nick Nace is up next with another track from his wonderful new album Wrestling With the Mystery.  This is a song inspired by a legendary songwriter who is still the road well into his 80s.  This may be my last show...

"River Styx" by Grant Farm

A lengthy track about a mythical river via the album Broke in Two by the Boulder, Colorado band Grant Farm. This album just makes me feel good.

"State Line" by Tony Logue

Next up, the first of two live tracks in the shuffle.  The first is by Tony Logue off of his album Live on Red Barn Radio album.  The song references Logue home state of Kentucky.   FYI, E2TG favorite Josh Gray recently played a Red Barn Radio Session.

"Houston" by Libby Koch

"State Line" is a live version of an earlier song by Logue.  Likewise, a studio version of "Houston" was released by Libby Koch on her 2009 album Redemption.  This new live version is from the 10 year anniversary live remake - called Redemption 10. Koch is a Texas songwriter - who I caught at the Broken Jukebox Media showcase during Americana Fest.

"Look Alive" by Joe Goodkin

And we close with another track from Paper Arrows by Chicago singer-songwriter Joe Goodkin. A nice ending to a cool shuffle.
