Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - The Slouch Mix (Little Rabbit Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

Honestly, just trying to make it through this short work week... I might make it - still up in the air...

Let's get to some fine, fine Trending Tuesday music -

"Once and For All" by Joe Goodkin

Out the gates, we have another track from Paper Arrows from Chicago singer-songwriter Joe Goodkin.  Glad I got to meet Joe and see him perform during a stop over in Nashville earlier this year.

"Livin' in the Lights" by Strange Majik

Next up, we have a recent single from LONG time E2TG favorite Strange Majik.  We first wrote about his old band The Dead Exs back during the first year of E2TG.  Since then, he has been killing it in New York City and consistently making great music.

"Hurt" by Tarah Who?

Next, we have our second listen (I believe) from 64 Women - the recent EP from L.A. based rock duo Tarah Who?  Digging this album a whole lot.

"Best Western Blues" by David J

A song about a motel from the recent album Missive to An Angel from the Halls of Infamy and Allure.  There has been a whole lot of activity surrounding the former members of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets over the last couple of years - the recent Bauhaus reunion shows being the latest example.  We have previously featured music from David J's Love and Rocket's bandmates Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins (as POPTONE).  This recent solo effort by David J sounds fantastic.

"Little Rabbit No. 3" by Golden Ghost

Next up, we have a track from The Big Sleep: Future by Golden Ghost - which features Laura Goetez of Castanets. The album is part of her epic concept - The Big Sleep - which features the character Little Rabbit.

"Sideways Summer" by Bonsai Universe

Whatever it was that expected to hear when I received music from a band called Bonsai Universe, I can assure you that Too Many Ghosts - the relatively new album - is not it. Woody Aplanalp is a musician with an impressive list of credits (Lauryn Hill, Nels Cline, Bobby Womack and more.  Under the Bonsai Universe moniker - he is making music that sounds at once slightly familiar and impossible to categorize.  I love it.

"Orpheus" by John Dennis

I am so excited to have an early opportunity to preview Mortal Flames - the third album by John Dennis. He is an amazing songwriter, and this track really shows that off. I continue to be blown away by the depth and diversity of the songwriting and musical talent in Nashville.  John Dennis - especially with Mortal Flame - has found his voice and his path to step away from a crowded and talented pack.

"Talk It Out" by The Cravens

Next up, we have a track from Florida band The Cravens off of their latest album - this is actually already our penultimate track to feature from the album - The Dark Side of Love.  The Cravens bass player Dennis Ambrose was part of Let's Active - as a touring member in 1986 - shortly after Bark's Tim Lee was part of that classic band.

"The Slouch" by The Lilliston Effect

And what better way to ease into the work day than with some cool, hot jazz from The Lilliston Effect.  Just in time for Thanksgiving, their album is called The Funky Turducken.  I don't know much about cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but I would think that if your Turducken (a deboned chicken stuffed inside a deboned duck, stuffed inside a deboned turkey) is funky - you probably did not thaw it all properly, but nonetheless, I am really enjoying this album.  I arrived at Tennessee Brew Works on Saturday just after they played.  I headed over after my stint with the WXNA Pledge Drive to see Adeem the Artist who was in from Knoxville.  I first met J.P. Lilliston playing guitar with the Mighty Joe Nolan.
