All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed six - January - June 2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

E2TG June 2018 NEW!

I have added a Playlist for JUNE 2018 - with 61 songs that highlight some of the music featured on E2TG.

Well, it's Tuesday, and time to dig back into our New Music playlist. We have a first listen plus some music we have been featuring for a while.

Let's shuffle!

"One Moment" by Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters

E2TG Favorite Ashleigh Flynn is back with a new band and a new album.  Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters. We first featured Flynn on her album A Million Stars.  She is a singer-songwriter based on the Pacific Northwest (Portland, Oregon) but with routes here in the Mid-South - including here in Nashville.  The band and album channels the spirit and the legacy of "Rosie the Riveter" and all of the strong women who helped the U.S. beat the Nazi's in World War II.  It is great to have new music from Ashleigh Flynn, and I am looking forward to seeing her at Americana Fest this year.

"Tourists" by Ezra Bell

Next up, in one of those E2TG shuffle coincidences, we have a track by another Portland, Oregon band - Ezra Bell. Ezra Bell was formed around the songs of Benjamin Wuamett. They play indie-folk-pop and while the music does sometimes evoke the playfulness I associate with that genre description - Ezra Bell adds a bit of unsettling viciousness to their songs that make it much more interesting than your standard "hey ho"* fare.  *my description of the the prototypical indie-folk sound.

"Lemon Box" by Moonshine Booze

Next up, we have another track from the awesome Desert Road album.  Moonshine Booze are an Italian band - that have a definite Western edge - but also a health surrealist streak.  Desert Road is one of my favorite albums of the year.

"Tell Me" by Trent Agecoutay

Trent Agecoutay has reaffirmed by commitment to continuing to dig into the direct artist submissions I receive almost daily.  It has become very difficult to listen to them all, but I am very glad I listened to Now.... and Then by this Canadian singer-songwriter.  Agecoutay is an active professional musician - whose music digs into roots and country music, and which also incorporates his own First Nations heritage. Beyond the details, this is a wonderful album filled with memorable songs.

"Talk Like a Pirate" by Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers
"Sailing On" by Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers

Next up, a true "two-fer Tuesday" from East Nashville's resident pirate band. These two tracks are from the recently released children's album If You Want to Be a Pirate: Songs for Young Buccaneers.  The first track is a song written for Talk Like a Pirate Day. Pirate music is fun. Well written pirate music played by top-notch musicians, is divine.
"Open Road" by Andrew Reed

Next, we have the penultimate song from the album, If All the World Were Right by singer-songwriter Andrew Reed. I have been enjoying this album.  I don't know much about Andrew Reed is a reclusive artist - who has worked in several different media.  He eschews much of the celebrity culture - which can make it a challenge to write about him, but which in no way detracts from his amazing music.

"Rose, Bridges And Rain" by Bill Bloomer

Next up, we have another track from Jubilee from ex-pat American singer-songwriter. Bloomer has a strong and unique voice which shines through on this album and in particular on this cut.

"Boomerang" by James House and The Blues Cowboys

And we close with a track from the new self-titled album by hit songwriter James House and The Blues Cowboys.  The CD release show for the new album will be held August 30 at City Winery here in Nashville.  I am truly honored to have the chance to feature and write about this album. Great blues-based music from a veteran performer and songwriter.
