Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Dyin' of Thirst Mix

All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed three - January - March 2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

E2TG January 2018
E2TG February 2018
E2TG March 2018
E2TG April 2018 (NEW!)

Running late, but I love Music City Monday - so I didn't want to miss.  It's funny how a random shuffle of the same mix of songs can yield a different mix of results. Today's shuffle is heavily weighted toward recent and fairly recent music.   But, you can see for yourself...

"I'm Leaving" by Becky Warren

First up, we have a track from Becky Warren's remarkable War Surplus album.  Her follow-up album is coming soon.  This album takes on the difficult but timely subject of PTSD among returning soldiers.

"For His Soul" by Promised Land Sound

Next up, a track from the self-titled debut album of Promised Land Sound. This one has been coming up quite often in the Music City shuffles, and I am very happy about that.

"Queen of the Spanish Main" by Tom Mason

Tom Mason has also been coming up quite often in all of our shuffle, and I could not be more happy.  This is another from his The Blue Buccaneer album.

"Dirt to Dust" by Allen Thompson Band

Allen Thompson plays an invaluable role in the Nashville music community.  He brings a positive energy to everything he does.  He is also among the best songwriters.  This is one of my favorite songs of his. The lyrics of this song inspired the name of his 2012 album Salvation in the Ground.

"Year Ender" by Western Medication

Next up, one of the best of the younger bands on the Nashville scene.  From the 2018 album Taste, we have Western Medication.

"Sunset, MO" by The Smoking Flowers

I happily attended two album release shows for Let's Die Together - the long anticipated (and worth the wait) new album from Scott and Kim Collins - The Smoking Flowers.

"Cinderblocks for Shoes" by Self

Next up, we have another track from The Half-Baked Serenade by now legendary Nashville band, Self - led by Matt Mahaffey.

"Potatoes and Whiskey" by Blackfoot Gypsies

Blackfoot Gypsies are flat out one of the best bands around. They bring such an amazing energy to their live shows. This is a track from To The Top - their debut on Plowboy Records.

"Learning Now" by Jon Latham

Next, we have 2015 E2TG Artist of the Year - Jon Latham from his incredible Lifers album. Nashville is filled with great songwriters, and Jon is one of the best. He also commands a stage and an audience like no one else. He plays small clubs as if he is playing a huge arena - and he makes it work.

"Slow Down" by Josh Morris

Josh Morris produced both of Jon Latham's albums.  We first heard from him way back in the early days of E2TG with his duo And the Giraffe.  This is a track from his most recent release (which we reviewed when it came out) - Can't Wait 'Til Now.  The last two videos in the video playlist were recorded live at The Country (now The Local) and shot by Crystal Rhoton (Music City Maven).
