Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Serenity Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Onward and upward, we are long on music but short on time!  Let's go!  Today's shuffle definitely lives up to my stated goal of featuring the most diverse list of music as I possible can.

"Maybe It Was Always You" by Tommy Jones and the Troubadours

We start things off with the first of two songs from The Truth Will Out by this UK band that combines vintage blues with Brit-pop to create a unique sound. I have been digging this album.

"White Blush" by Ariana Gillis

We also have two tracks from this Canadian singer-songwriter from her album The Maze which was produced by Buddy Miller and recorded here in Nashville. I have been blown away by this album. Great songs, great voice.

"Trouble Time" by The Pull of Autumn

Boston collective The Pull of Autumn are back.  We featured their self-titled debut album last year, and now they are back with the folllow-up called Afterglow.  The band features members of Fashion and Johanna's House of Glamour. The Pull of Autumn also features a number of collaborators with a long list of credits - making them a bit of a supergroup.  Great to have them back in the shuffle, and so far, I am digging this new album.

"Never Again" by Gold Frankincense and Myrrh

Christmas in July? Hardly.  Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh (or TheGFMBand for short) are up next with their new single "Never Again".  TheGFMBand is a hard rocking girl group that call their genre BeautyCore.  They combine powerful metal-influenced rock, colorful characters, and a positive message.  This track may not be our typical fare (if we even have typical fare), but I dig it.

"Breathe In" by Kristin Hersh

Next up, we have another track from Possible Dust Clouds, the new album by Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50FOOTWAVE).  It is the second album we have covered by Hersh.  Throwing Muses have been touring again recently, too.  A lot happening in the Kristin Hersh camp.  Glad to be able to feature this wonderful album.

"Butterfly" by WesdaRuler

Next up, we have our first listen to Athen, Georgia artist WesdaRuler (aka Wesley Johnson). The album which is called Ocean Drive will not be out until September 13, but he has released a single and video called Stay At Home.  WesdaRuler began has a highly sought after beatmaker before stepping in front of the mic. His words are complex and powerful and deep.  I am looking forward to featuring more of this album in the months to come.
"The Feeling of Empty" by Ariana Gillis

Our second track from Ariana Gillis.  Again, showing off her songwriting ability and her wonderful voice.

"A Guilty Man" by Rod Picott

Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil has been out less than two week. Rod Picott is an incredible writer (or song and verse).  And this is one of my favorite albums of the year.  Picott speaks his (not always pleasant) truths with beauty and power.

"Satdeenight Ready" by Ernest Moon

Next up, a fun track from Liverpool's Ernest Moon. This song was released as a single from Ba-Jesus - their latest EP.  This is our penultimate track to feature from that EP.  The song is about man going out of a Saturday night and getting reflective about the way people treat other people and the crueler aspects of the world.  These reflective thoughts are presented with humor and a catchy tune.

"The Dreams I Say" by Tommy Jones and the Troubadours

One more from The Truth Will Out.  Mentally, I am compiling a theoretical list of favorite albums of 2019 (I don't do Top 10 or Top anything lists), and I have to say, this album is looking good to be included in that list.

"Serenity" by Charlie Roth

We close things out with another track (a single) from I'm the Smile - the new album by Minnesota based songwriter which was recorded in Texas. We have been fortunate to be able to feature a number of great singer-songwriters here at E2TG. This is a musical tradition that goes back centuries. Charlie Roth is a worthy addition to that impressive list.
