Last night, I took in another edition of the long running (9 years) $2 Tuesday at The 5 Spot. Last night, started with E2TG favorite Andrew Adkins, followed by Ginger Cowgirl (who I had seen before at $2 Tuesday, followed by Derek Hoke and band, and in the late night hour it was the amazing Shannon McNally backed by a killer band featuring Joe V. McMahan, Jimmy Matt Rowland, and Toby Caldwell. It was, as it always seems to be, a great night of music, and a great hang.
On we go, to the Wild Wednesday shuffle - if you are new here, this is a random shuffle of songs currently saved to my phone. Let's go!
"My Generation" by The Who
"Hope I die before I get old." I forget - who did this song?
"See Me Sometimes" by Tim Henderson
Next up, another from the Tim Henderson Legacy Collection box set. This is a live recording from Volume 6 - In My Eyes.
"It's Been All Over Before" by Tommy Womack
Next up, we have a track from Tommy Womack's most recent album, Namaste.
"Milky Way" by The Truehearts
Next, our only song in today's shuffle from our New Music list. This is another track from the phenomenal Songs for Spike album. Be sure to catch, The Truehearts on October 9 when they play the E2TG Fall Residency.
"CT (demo) [b-side]" by Black Doctor Jr.
Next up, we have one from the E2TG archives. Black Doctor Jr. were part of the Mama Coco's collective. From their Facebook account, it looks like they have been on indefinite hiatus for the last few years. I'm not sure where I got this track - it's not currently on their bandcamp page that I can find. But, I dig it.
"Big Boy Brock Was Born in the Wrong Generation" by The Velveteen Jumping Beans
10 minutes of Millennials talking about the 60s while playing interesting (kind of psychedelic music). The Velveteen Jumping Beans were/are? an off-shoot of Discount Ravioli who are an off-shoot from The Foresters. Some disjointed history, talk of Twilight Zone and Rick and Morty, and more talk about the Beatles.
"A Little Low" by Ashleigh Flynn
This one goes back to Ashleigh Flynn's A Million Stars album. More recently, we featured her first album with The Riveters.
"Two Parts Sugar, One Part Lime" by Vanessa Collier
Next, we have singer/songwriter/saxophonist Vanessa Collier from her 2017 album Meeting My Shadow.
"Old Town Rock N Roll" by Adam Carroll
And, we close this shuffle with the title track from Carroll's 2008 album Old Town Rock n Roll. The song was covered by Matt the Electrician from the 2016 Adam Carroll Tribute album called Highway Prayer: A Tribute to Adam Carroll.
