Guess what! It's Wednesday - time to get wild...
I am a little short on time - so let's go!
"No God" by Pony Girl
From the E2TG archives... Pony Girl are a Canadian band who play an interesting brand of indie/electronic/pop music with wonderful male/female vocals. We covered their album Foreign Life a few years ago - the album is all about finding oneself in a foreign situation due to some upheaval of life. I know that feeling.
"Chosen Sons" by Post Death Soundtrack
Another Canadian band. Post Death Soundtrack is harder edged industrial electronic music. This is the opening track from their album It Will Come Out of Nowhere which was released back in February.
"Mama Cried" by Chris Carroll
Most recently, we have been covering Good Farmer - the forthcoming new album from Chris and Adam Carroll. But, for this wild Wednesday shuffle - we jump back to Chris Carroll's 2014 solo album Trouble and Time.
"Draft Dodger Rag" by Phil Ochs
I can thank Jason and the Scorchers for first turning me on to Phil Ochs (when the covered "My Kingdom for a Car"), but I owe Sue Havlish my thanks for bringing this song to my attention. Humor and political commentary. From a particular moment in history, but with messages still relevant - even if we don't have the draft.
"Loving You Is Like Living In A Strange Hotel" by Tim Henderson
Next up, we have a gem from the late, great Texas songwriter Tim Henderson. Henderson was a Kerrville new folk winner from 1977 who passed away in 2011. We have been making our way through his Legacy Collection - this is from the Sixth volume - In My Eyes.
"Lying In Our Bed" by Collins Drive
Next up, we have a track from the 2017 self-titled album by Atlanta based band Collins Drive. Always a treat when one of their songs comes through the shuffle.
"Listening to Antique Pony Too Much" by Youngstrr Joey
Next up, we have a track from Grilled Wiig by UK artist Youngstrr Joey. We covered this album a few years ago. It was released on the Song, by Toad record label. The cover of the album features a photo-shopped Kristin Wiig.
"Texas Death Row Blues" by Luke Powers
Lately, it seems like Tennessee has been trying to compete with Texas, but I hope we never catch up... from the album Hwy 100 - we have Nashville's own Luke Powers speaking the truth about this controversial topic.
"Dancing Towards Infinity" by Lost Chocolate Lab
We featured Lost Landscapes by Seattle based Indie band Lost Chocolate Lab toward the end of 2018. Really cool music.
"The Waves" by Rayvon Pettis
2017 E2TG Artist of the Year Rayvon Pettis - recently released his new collaboration with Megan Palmer called Nothing Is Sweeter. I attended the release show for this EP last week. He remains an E2TG favorite. I believe this album was recorded just before Pettis relocated to Nashville.
